In winter, look out for the Northern Lights illuminating the night skies and icebergs crowding the waters, as you are surrounded by a landscape of snow and ice.

Warmer weather brings returning migrant birds, including the puffin that settles down to rear small pufflings in burrows on the craggy cliffs. The glacial water starts to melt and cascades down impressive waterfalls, such as Gulfoss and Skogafoss.
