Laos

Laos is the only landlocked country of South-east Asia and holds the unfortunate record of being the most heavily bombed country in history, however it's without doubt one of the most naturally beautiful countries in the world.

The country is home to several extraordinary man-made and natural sights, including temples in Vientiane full of thousands of Buddhas and the mysterious 'Plain of Jars' sculptures to jungle-covered mountains dotted with caves.

The Mekong River flows through the centre of the country and is a vital life source for many of the villages and towns that surround the river as it provides irrigation, makes the land fertile for crops and grazing, and is the main transport route between many of the towns and villages.
