Romania is home to many amazing sites. Not only is the country famous for its legends in Transylvania linking it to one of the most famous gothic characters of all time at Bran Castle, but it also lays claim to have the world heaviest building in Bucharest. The interesting and fun Clay Castle of the Fairy Valley looks to be straight out of fairytale.

The Turda Salt mines are not to be missed. The old mines are now a vast underground theme park, full of rides, activities and an underground lake perfect for exploring by boat.

If it’s adventure activities you’re after, then there are great hiking and cycling routes in the mountains that can be both a summer destination and also great for skiing in the winter.

Finally, Romania is home to wonderful wildlife and you can spend time searching out rare birds in the Danube Delta, looking for bison and wolves in the forests and keep an eye for bears in the mountains.
