Albania

Albania has a great natural beauty and a compelling and long history, making it perfect for families of all ages. The mix of ancient, Ottoman and communist periods of history has given Albania an extraordinary tale to tell and with ancient ruins that once housed Caesar himself, to Ottoman UNESCO World Heritage Towns and medieval castles to remnants of the communist era, there's a slice of history for all the history lovers.

This mountainous country is home to many peaks, with the Dinaric Alps in the north, the Korab Mountains in the east, the Pindus Mountains in the south-east, Ceraunian Mountains in the south-west and the Skanderbeg Mountains in the centre. Mount Korab on the Albania & Macedonia border is the highest peak hikers can climb.

There's also the wild side of Albania with the Vjosa River Valley being one of the last untouched areas of Europe that offers excellent opportunities for adventure, from rafting to cycling and even some natural thermal springs to soak away the muscle stiffness after the adventures.

Albania offers excellent wildlife spotting opportunities due to the excellent climate and diverse landscapes including lagoons, forests and the mountains you could see lynx, brown bears, wildcat, jackal, wolf, vulture, golden eagle and more.
