After arriving at Dar Es Salaam, head to Saadani National Park to explore where bush meets beach, in East Africa’s only coastal wildlife reserve. Here, you can search for four of the big five: lions, elephants, buffaloes and leopards in addition to an abundance of other wildlife including zebra and wild dogs.
Enjoy boat safaris in search of hippos and crocodiles, game drives and walking safaris where you have the chance to set and review camera traps. Enjoy dinner on the salt falts, under a starry night sky and visit a wildlife research centre to learn about elephant and lion collaring projects.
Continue your journey to the most northerly port in Tanzania, on the Pemba Channel of the Indian Ocean to enjoy some footprint-free beaches, kayaking mangroves and inlets, exploring limestone caves, snorkelling and helping with turtle nesting relocation projects.
Typical Itinerary

Day 1: Depart UK
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Dar es Salaam.

Day 2: Arrive Dar es Salaam
Arrive in Dar es Salaam and transfer to a nearby hotel.

Day 3: Transfer to Saadani National Park
Saadani National Park's unique location provides the opportunity for birdlife and wildlife viewing, alongside fabulous white-sand beaches. There's a variety of activities on offer, such as learning bush skills, tracking wildlife or making a fire with a park ranger.
Enjoy a game drive in the afternoon and on arrival at your accommodation, learn how to set a camera trap.

Day 4: Boat safari & game drive
Take a boat safari down the Wami River to look for hippos and crocodiles, then enjoy a game drive on your journey back, returning to camp at dusk. Tonight you have dinner on the salt flats under the stars.

Day 5: Walking safari
Head out on a walking safari on the salt flats and look for animal prints and smaller flora and fauna. Later, collect your camera traps and check for any pictures and videos.

Day 6: Village visit & wildlife research centre
Visit a nearby village in addition to a local home and have the chance to meet some of the fishermen who live and work in the village. This afternoon visit the wildlife research centre to learn about the elephant and lion collaring and some of the camp's conservation work.

Day 7: Journey to Tanga
Transfer north to an area untouched by mass tourism, where you can stay at an eco-resort on a remote stretch of coast. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Days 8-9 : Days at leisure
The next few days are free for you to relax, enjoy swimming, snorkelling or take part in the activities at the resort. Hire kayaks to paddle around the coastline, exploring mangroves and forest inlets, take boat trips out to offshore reef/sand islands, take part in reef restoration projects and turtle nest relocation or explore some local limestone caves. -
Day 10: Depart Tanzania
Sadly, it's time to depart for your journey home, flying from Tanga via Dar es Salaam back to the UK.
