Typical Itinerary

1. Day 1: Fly to Cairo

   Arrive in Cairo and transfer to our hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

2. Day 2: Visit the Great Pyramids of Giza and The Sphinx

   We travel to Giza where our guide takes us to The Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, and explains the ancient history of the Egyptians.

3. Day 3: Grand Egyptian Museum, then transfer to station for overnight train journey

   Today, we delve deeper into the wonders of Ancient Egypt with a visit to the spectacular Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo - the most ambitious cultural project in Egypt’s modern history. Located near the pyramids of Giza, this vast, state-of-the-art complex houses the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts.

   Our afternoon is free at leisure until we transfer to Cairo Train Station, where we board our overnight sleeper train to Aswan.

4. Day 4: Visit Philae Temple and Aswan Dam

   Disembarking the train, we take a morning’s guided tour of the Temple of Philae and visit the Aswan Dam. Checking into the hotel after lunch, you will then have the afternoon to relax by the pool, and there is an option to enjoy dinner at the home of a Nubian family.

5. Day 5: Visit Abu Simbel or Monastery Camel excursion, then sunset felucca on the Nile

   For those who don’t mind an early start, there is an option to explore the ancient site of Abu Simbel – one of the most impressive temples in Egypt.

   Alternatively, a leisurely visit to a remote monastery followed by a camel ride can be arranged. After lunch in Aswan, we board a traditional felucca for a relaxing sailing journey on the River Nile.

6. Day 6: Visit Kom Ombo temple, then transfer to Luxor

   In the morning, we visit the beautiful riverside temple of Kom Ombo where a small selection of mummified crocodiles are housed, before transferring to the ancient city of Luxor where you have the option to join the nighttime ‘Sound and Light’ show of Karnak temple. 

7. Day 7: Tutankhamun's tomb, The Valley of The Kings

   Today is devoted to making a full exploration of The Valley of the Kings – site of the most famous burial site in the world, that of Tutankhamun – discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. You will also have the option to make daytime visits to Luxor and Karnak Temple, or visit the evening market.

8. Day 8: Depart Egypt or extend to the Red Sea

   You will be transferred to Luxor Airport in good time for your flight home to the UK. Alternatively, you can extend your itinerary to Hurghada, where you can spend some time relaxing on the coast or snorkelling the Red Sea corals. Contact us to arrange this.
