On this trip, you will visit the big highlights of this amazing country, enjoying game drives to witness some of the best wildlife in the world, as well as cycle tours to explore the local area, before spending a few days on the Spice Island of Zanzibar where you will meet the locals and explore historic Stone Town.

This itinerary can be adapted as you wish to suit your family's interests, and the time you have available.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart UK

    Overnight flight from the UK to Kilimanjaro.

  2. Day 2: Arrive Kilimanjaro & transfer to Manyara

    Arrive Kilimanjaro airport in the morning. You’ll be met and driven to Lake Manyara, around a three hour drive from the airport, and then the rest of the day is free to relax. Stay in an established camp with a cosy atmosphere and pool. 

  3. Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

    Enjoy a full day's game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, where zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, hippos and warthogs are frequently seen, as well as elephants and incredible numbers of flamingos.

  4. Day 4: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

    Visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and witness the marvel of its crater, 600 metres deep and consisdered by some to be the eighth wonder of the world. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact caldera in the world with an abundance of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor.

    Continue to Olduvai Gorge, site of archaeological findings where traces of pre-historic man dating back to 3.5 million years ago have been discovered. Visit the on-site museum and witness a panoramic view of the historical excavation site.

  5. Day 5: Serengeti National Park

    Today, after an early breakfast, enjoy a full day safari drive through the Serengeti National Park, crossing the whole of the Serengeti through Seronera and into the western corridor, with fanastic widlife viewing opportunities along the way.

  6. Day 6: Lake Victoria

    Explore, by canoe, the narrow waterways leading to the massive expanse of Lake Victoria, the best site in Tanzania for birding. In the afternoon, enjoy a bike ride through local farms and fishing villages between the shores of Lake Victoria and the Serengeti National Park. This evening, enjoy drinks and dinner around the campfire.

  7. Day 7: Fly to Zanzibar

    Today it's time to leave the mainland and fly (via Dar Es Salaam) to the island of Zanzibar, situated off the off the coast of East Africa.

  8. Day 8: Zanzibar: Stone Town

    Enjoy a historical walking tour in Stone Town, strolling through the narrow alleys, carved balconies and numerous locations of historical significance. After the city tour, transfer to your beach hotel, home for the next three nights.

  9. Days 9-10 : Zanzibar: beach stay

    The next two days can be filled with as much or as little as you wish: watersports, diving, snorkelling, sunset cruises, village walks and spice tours can all be arranged locally.

  10. Day 11: Visit spice farm & depart Zanzibar

    After a leisurely, breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Stone Town, stopping en route at a spice farm for a fascinating guided tour. Afterwards you will be taken to the Dhow Palace Hotel where you will have access to a family day room to rest and freshen up before a transfer to the airport for your overnight flight home.

  11. Day 12: Arrive UK
