A family holiday to South-east Asia isn't easily forgotten, especially this one where each member of the family will find something they'll always remember. The animal and nature lovers won't be disappointed by bears and the sheer beauty of the landscapes, the explorers and adventurers will get their fix exploring caves and waterfalls and the history buffs will have plenty to keep them entertained.
You start your journey in Vietnam's capital city, Hanoi, where you explore the city, discovering the traditional Old Quarter and the more modern side with a stop at a café with a difference. Next, you go to the beautiful Ha Long Bay for a cruise around the islands before transferring into the cloud-covered mountains of the Tam Dao National Park, with its unusual architecture and a visit to see moon bears.
Next, you fly into Laos to see the sacred temples and statues of Vientiane. From Vientiane, you go to the adventure capital of Laos to explore jungle-covered caves by foot and a kayak adventure down the Nam Song River straight into vast limestone caverns. Finally, you catch the train to the tranquil town of Luang Prabang for a slow cruise up the Mekong and to explore and swim in the cool, refreshing waterfalls.

Day 1: Depart UK
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Hanoi. -
Day 2: Arrive Hanoi
On arrival in Hanoi, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel in the city. -
Day 3: Hanoi City Tour
Visit some of Hanoi’s fascinating sites, including the Temple of Literature. Then enjoy a cycle rickshaw tour through the Old Quarter and witness the hustle and bustle of this charming town and its maze of streets. Visit the Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi and enjoy a drink in one of the famous train track cafés and then see beautiful Ngoc Son Temple, set on a tiny island on Hoan Kiem Lake. -
Day 4: Ha Long Bay Junk Cruise
Drive to the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, where you board your boat and cruise among dramatic limestone peaks. Swim in the sea and explore caves filled with stunning stalactites and stalagmites before spending a peaceful night on board the sailing junk. -
Day 5: Transfer to Tam Dao National Park
Wake up early to watch a stunning sunrise over the tranquil bay. The junk then sails around the island, back to the port, and you drive to Tam Dao National Park. -
Day 6: Visit the Tam Dao Bear Sanctuary
Take a guided tour of the Tam Dao Bear Sanctuary and learn about the bears and the conservation projects of the sanctuary. -
Day 7: Fly to Vientiane & Visit Heritage Monuments
Take a flight to the Capital of Laos, Vientiane. In the afternoon, visit That Luang Stupa and the Patuxai Monument. -
Day 8: Vientiane City Tour
Take a tour of Vientiane visiting Wat Sisaket and its thousands of Buddha statues, the former home of the Emerald Buddha Wat Ho Phra Keo and discover the amazing variety of statues in the Buddha Park, where you can join in the chanting with Buddhist Monks. -
Day 9: Drive to Vang Vieng & Discover Tham Phoukham Cave
Drive to the adventure capital of Laos, Vang Vieng and in the afternoon discover the magical jungle-covered cave of Tham Phoukham. -
Day 10: Kayaking on the Nam Song River
Kayak on the Nam Song River through gentle rapids and into the vast Tham Nam cavern before kayaking back to Vang Vieng as the sun sets. -
Day 11: Take the high-speed train to Luang Prabang
Take the high-speed train through Laos countryside to the tranquil Luang Prabang and visit the Royal Palace Museum and Phousi Market. -
Day 12: Mekong River Cruise & Swimming at Kuang Si Falls
Take a slow boat river cruise up the Mekong River to the sacred Pak Ou caves packed full of statues left by pilgrims, visit traditional weaving villages and cool in the pools of the beautiful Kuang Si falls. -
Day 13: Transfer to Luang Prabang Airport
Go to the top of Phousi Hill for one last look over the surrounding countryside before transferring to the airport for your flight home. -
Day 14: Arrive UK
