Cycling adventures for the whole family

As usual, we’ve been gripped to the live coverage of the Tour de France this year, willing Chris Froome with all our might towards that yellow jersey.

Since 2014, when the Tour de France’s Grand Depart took place in Yorkshire, we’ve seen a great rise in the number of families looking to incorporate cycling into their holiday with us, encouraged by the hundreds of cycling events for under 16s that took place around the country that year and have continued since. In fact, a poll by Sustrans revealed that the Tour de France inspired a quarter of Britons to try cycling or cycle more often. We believe cycling is something the whole family can enjoy.

On our trips, we provide different sized bicycles for children so that everyone can get involved. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite holidays that get you and your family onto two wheels.

Active Costa Rica

How about mountain biking around an active volcano for a story to tell their friends about? The trail follows the forest and mountain paths where you’ll spot many different birds as well as howler monkeys and racoons.

Active Sri Lanka

Cycle along the picturesque old coast road towards Sri Lanka’s largest and best preserved cave temple complex. Leave the Lion Rock Fortress in the dust behind you as cycle on to a local village, and enjoy a gentle ride along the beautiful countryside by the Giritale Tank.

Teen Hike and Bike

In the foothills of the majestic Atlas Mountains you’ll cycle the valleys around Ouirgane, Morocco, discovering tiny, timeless Berber villages and extraordinary scenery. Ride past olive groves, serene Lalla Takerkoust Lake and through juniper forest.

Cycle Vietnam

Explore the traditional farming and fishing communities of Vietnam by bike as you cycle through emerald green rice paddies to hill tribe villages and spectacular caves. Cycle with the dramatic back drop of Hoa Lu’s two remaining temples and discover more of Hoi An with opportunities to stop and speak to local people and play with other children as you ride through bamboo-fenced villages. Alpine Adventure

Cycle around the alpine meadow valleys of Slovenia, starting on mountain roads and heading off onto a disused railway track now adapted for cyclists. See the Sava River, Zelenci Nature Reserve and Planica Valley. Spectatcular views of mountains, alpine forests and different routes for every ability.
