In winter Finland, and in particular Lapland, offers deep snow, cosy chalets, the Northern Lights, husky safaris and cross-country skiing. What is most extraordinary comming from a country like Great Britain is the sheer volume of snow, the ability for all things to function fully at many degrees below zero, the variation of daylight over the year and the tremendous amount of space - there are not many people up north. When you combine this with the logh summer days it is no wonder Finland that is ranked one of the happiest countries in the world!
