This trip is all about having fun in the snow, by skiing in a winter wonderland and enjoying other snowy adventures such as ice-karting, snow-tubing, tobogganing, husky sledging and visiting a reindeer farm!

Your base for the week, Ruka, offers a varied selection of slopes for skiing and snowboarding for all abilities, and is also ideal for those learning how to ski.
Daytimes are spent being taught how to ski or practising your techniques independently. There are 20 kilometres of slopes available with a dedicated 'Family Park' for beginners, and a range of blue, red and black runs, so there are slopes to suit various skill levels. Freestylers can also have lots of fun in the Ruka Park with its different lines, half-pipe, ramps and jumps.
In addition to skiing, several other snow-based adventures are available such as ice-karting, snow-tubing, husky sledging, river-floating and snowshoeing.
Typical Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Finland
Upon arrival in Kuusamo, you are met and transferred to your accommodation in the ski-village of Ruka.

Day 2: Familiarisation of area, ski fitting & reindeer farm visit
This morning you can familiarise yourself with Ruka, the ski lifts and where the lessons take place. In the afternoon you can take the gondola lift over the mountain to Ruka Valley, where you can enjoy snow-tubing on a dedicated 'tubing' run, or visit a local reindeer farm.

Day 3: Family skiing day – lesson 1
Today is spent on the slopes at Ruka Valley, where you have a morning ski lesson and can enjoy the afternoon independently practising the skills and techniques you've learnt so far.

Day 4: Family skiing - lesson 2 & optional ice-karting
You take your second lesson this morning, and after lunch, there’s an optional visit to a forest ice-karting track where your family race each other before returning to the ski resort for some independent ski time.

Day 5: Family skiing - lesson 3 & optional husky sledging
For your third and final ski lesson, you head onto the slopes for the morning, and after lunch, there’s an optional activity of husky sledging on a 5-kilometre circuit through the nearby forests, before returning to the ski resort for some independent skiing.

Day 6: Free day for skiing & optional river-floating or snowshoeing
Having completed your ski lessons, you have the entire day to enjoy the slopes for yourself, or opt to take a fourth private skiing lesson to enhance your skills.
You could also enjoy an optional visit to a forest river where your family will be equipped with thermally insulated dry suits before entering the water to lie back and gently float downstream with the river. Alternatively, you could go snowshoeing through the forests and over the hills of Valtavaara to explore this stunning area off-piste before enjoying more independent skiing.

Day 7: Return to the UK
Leaving the resort, you take the ski bus to Kuusamo airport and check-in for your flights.

Days 8-10 : OPTIONAL EXTENSION
Additional days can be added to your holiday if you'd like to have more skiing time and days to enjoy other optional activities on offer in the area.
