Udawalawe National Park

Udawalawe National Park and Walawe Reservoir comprise of open plains and hills located in south-west Sri Lanka, at the foot of the prominent Kaltota Escarpment. The park is home to many elephants with herds of 50 to 60 often being seen at one time.

In addition to the herd of elephant, there are numerous sambar, chital and wild boar to see.  There is wonderful birdlife here too, including grey-headed fish eagle, blackshouldered kite, crested serpent eagle, white-bellied sea eagle, shikra, common kestrel, brown fish owl and western marsh harrier.
