Your adventure begins in Hanoi, where you explore the atmospheric Old Quarter before travelling to the spectacular landscapes of Ninh Binh, known as ‘Halong Bay on land’. Cruise through limestone karsts, discover ancient temples and spend a night aboard a traditional cruise in the peaceful waters of Bai Tu Long Bay before continuing south to explore historic Hue, charming Hoi An and vibrant Ho Chi Minh City.

  1. Day 1: Depart the UK

    Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Hanoi.

  2. Day 2: Arrive Hanoi

    Arrive Hanoi and enjoy an orientation tour in the city's historic Old Quarter. 

  3. Day 3: Hanoi City Experience

    Discover Hanoi’s fascinating mix of history and local life, visiting the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple. Enjoy a traditional cyclo ride through the Old Quarter and experience the unique atmosphere of the famous train-track district.

  4. Day 4: Ninh Binh

    Travel to Ninh Binh, known as ‘Ha Long Bay on land’. Cruise through the spectacular Trang An Grottoes and visit Bai Dinh Pagoda, Vietnam’s largest Buddhist complex.

  5. Day 5: Ha Long Bay Cruise

    Travel to Bai Tu Long Bay and board your overnight cruise through this quieter corner of the Hạ Long Bay region, surrounded by dramatic limestone karsts, emerald waters and hidden coves.

  6. Day 6: Bai Tu Long Bay, Hanoi & Overnight Train to Hue

    Explore Bai Tu Long Bay with a visit to Thien Canh Son Cave before cruising back to shore. Return to Hanoi, freshen up at a day-use hotel and board your overnight sleeper train to Hue.

  7. Day 7: Arrive Hue - Imperial Heritage

    Explore the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An’s UNESCO-listed Ancient Town, discovering its historic architecture, colourful markets and riverside charm. Experience local life with a visit to the surrounding countryside and coconut palm waterways.

  11. Day 11: Hoi An - Optional Experiences

    Enjoy a free day in Hoi An or choose an optional excursion. Cycle between rural villages and join a Vietnamese cookery class, or take a boat trip to Cham Island for snorkelling and coastal exploration.

  12. Day 12: Fly to Ho Chi Minh City

    In Ho Chi Minh City, begin exploring Vietnam’s vibrant southern metropolis. Discover the city’s fascinating history, visiting landmarks including the Reunification Palace, Central Post Office and former Saigon streets.

  13. Day 13: Mekong Delta Adventure
