The adventure then unfolds at Canyon Sainte-Anne, where dramatic cliffs and cascading waterfalls create a spectacular setting for exploration. Here, curious minds can discover the wonders of marine ecosystems in hands-on learning experiences.

Deeper into nature, Gaspésie National Park invites families to hike breathtaking trails, paddle crystal-clear waters, learn new skills like fishing, and encounter wildlife in its natural habitat—from coastal kayaking to spotting black bears in the wild. For thrill-seekers, treetop adventures and via ferrata routes offer exciting, family-friendly challenges high above the ground.

When it’s time to unwind, the tranquil shores of Lac à l’Eau Claire provide the perfect escape to relax, recharge, and enjoy quality time together under the summer sun before heading back to Montreal.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Fly to Montreal

    On arrival into Montreal, collect your hire car and drive to your hotel in the downtown area of the city.
  2. Day 2: Day at Leisure in Montreal

    Your first full day in Canada is free for you to explore the city of Montreal. Hire bikes, join a food tour or kick-start your trip with an adrenaline adventure on a jet-boat on the St. Lawrence River.
  3. Day 3: Montreal to Québec City

    Head to Québec City today, with a choice of stops along the way – from riverside beaches, interactive museums, and of course ice cream.
  4. Day 4: Day at Leisure in Québec City

    Explore the city at your own pace; wander the cobbled streets of Old Québec, watch street performers and stroll along the iconic Dufferin Terrace, which offers sweeping views over the majestic St Lawrence River.

    Visit the highest point in the city, La Citadelle de Québec – Canada’s largest fortress, or head outside the city to Canyon Sainte Anne, offering dramatic scenery, suspension bridges and a spectacular waterfall.

  5. Day 5: Québec City to Matane

    Drive out along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River towards Gaspé Peninsula. Choose to stop at Pointe-au-Père Lighthouse National Historic Site for panoramic views, or Les Portes d’Enfer Park for hiking trails and a high, suspended footbridge over the canyon’s ‘Gates of Hell’.
  6. Day 6: Matane to Gaspésie National Park

    Continue your journey along the St. Lawrence River towards Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, a drive that showcases some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in Québec.

    Keep an eye out for local marine life and seabirds often spotted along this route, and stop at the Exploramer – a hands-on marine discovery centre – combining a museum, aquarium and outdoor activities.

    Here you can step into the shoes of an oceanographer on a research-style boat, participate in the collection of scientific data, watch tagging operations, and explore the marine life of the St. Lawrence Gulf.

  7. Days 7-8 : Gaspésie National Park

    The next couple of days are for you to enjoy a spectacular outdoor playground. Gaspésie National Park has plenty of hiking trails, canoe, kayak and SUP rentals at Lake Cascapedia, as well as fishing. There's plenty of wildlife to spot too, including caribou, moose, black bears, foxes, and a variety of birds.
  8. Day 9: Gaspésie National Park to Tadoussac

    Head back down to the coast and begin a scenic drive along the rugged shoreline of the St Lawrence River towards Trois-Pistoles. Board the ferry, where you might be lucky and spot seals or whales as you cross the river, then continue your journey to Tadoussac.
  9. Day 10: Whale Watching Cruise

    Undoubtedly a highlight whilst staying in Tadoussac is whale watching. Here, up to 13 different species of whales can be spotted, from playful belugas to the largest animals on the planet, the majestic blue whale. A boat tour brings you up close to these magnificent creatures in their natural environment.

    Visit the Marine Mammal Interpretation Centre to learn more about the whales that visit the St. Lawrence River, enjoy building sandcastles and having picnics on the small, scenic beaches, or join a sea kayaking excursion.

  10. Day 11: Via Ferrata or Treetops Adventure at Parc Aventures Cap Jaseux

    Follow the scenic north shore of the Saguenay Fjord as you make your way to the Auberge Cap au Leste. Stop at Parc Aventures Cap Jaseux for an exhilarating via ferrata experience or treetop adventure.
  11. Day 12: Day at Leisure at Auberge Cap Au Leste

    There are a wide range of activities on offer at this scenic lodge, including canoeing stand-up paddleboarding, dog sled excursions on wheels and lake swimming.

    You can also head out for a fantastic sea kayaking experience, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Saguenay Fjord. 

  12. Day 13: Cap Au Leste to Saint-Alexis-Des-Monts

    Leave the dramatic landscapes of the Saguenay Fjord behind and take a scenic drive through the heart of Québec’s wilderness; pass through the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve and Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier. 

  13. Day 14: Relax at Lac À l’Eau Claire

    For your last day, relax at the water’s edge of Lac à l’Eau Claire, soaking in the summer sunshine. There are also plenty of outdoor activities on offer, including canoeing, kayaking, biking, hiking and tennis.

  14. Day 15: Return to Montreal & Fly Home

    Say goodbye to this incredible self-drive adventure; head back to Montreal to return your hire car and take your overnight flight home.
  15. Day 16: Arrive UK
