This family group tour trip begins in Maun, gateway to Botswana’s spectacular Okavango Delta. From here we embark on a 5-night mobile camping safari, taking us through Moremi Game Reserve and into Mababe Private Reserve on the border of the Khwai River in search of elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard.
The mobile camping phase is fully-serviced using spacious luxury tents, with standing beds and en suite facilities. We're accompanied by a full crew of camping staff who are employed to look after us and teach us about the wildlife. Driver-guides, cooks and camp support staff, will erect our tents, set our rooms, prepare and serve food, and guide us on amazing game drives. We just need you to concentrate on watching the wildlife, eating and sleeping!
The routine for our safari days typically starts with an early morning drive that returns to camp late morning when we have lunch and time to relax and refresh in camp, before driving out again for a late afternoon-sunset safari.
Having returned to camp in the early evening, supper will be served, and then the evening is spent watching the bush television (aka campfire!), star gazing, and listening to the sounds of the African bush.

Typical Itinerary

Day 1: Depart UK
Depart the UK on an overnight flight via Johannesburg to Maun, arriving the following day. -
Day 2: Arrive Maun
Arriving into Maun today, we're met at the airport and transferred to our accommodation. -
Days 3-5 : Transfer & explore Moremi Game Reserve by vehicle & mokoro
After a leisurely breakfast, we transfer by road to the Moremi Game Reserve, where our mobile camping safari commences. A large variety of game can often be found en-route; Moremi is well known for its elephant and antelope population, as well as predators which are also frequently seen.
Each morning, we're woken by the camp staff for breakfast, before driving out of camp in search of the region’s famed wildlife. We typically return to camp by mid - to late morning, when there's an opportunity to refresh, have lunch and relax, before heading out again after afternoon tea, for another wildlife drive.
One of the great advantages of a mobile camping safari is that we're not restricted by a schedule - if our guide believes that it's in the interests of the group to stay out longer, we have the flexibility to do this. On occasion, we may venture out for the entire day with a packed lunch, allowing us to travel further afield.

Day 6: Drive to Mababe
Take a leisurely wildlife drive through Moremi Game Reserve north-east towards Mababe. This is one of the most scenic areas of the Okavango, and we break our journey to enjoy a mokoro excursion in the calm back-waters of the Khwai and Mbudi channels. After lunch, we continue by vehicle to a private concession in Mababe, passing through vast forests of mopane and leadwood on the way, and keeping a lookout for various antelope and the herds of bull elephant that frequent this area. -
Days 7-8 : Explore Mababe Private Reserve
Mababe's range of habitats and abundance of impala, red lechwe, zebra, wildebeest and tesebbe attract great numbers of large predators and lion, leopard and spotted hyena are all common in the area. One of the great advantages of staying in a private reserve such as Mababe is that we can enjoy unrestricted travel to find and follow wildlife as well as take night drives, which open up a whole new world of opportunity to watch wildlife, as a good proportion of Botswana's mammals are active only after dark. -
Day 9: Drive to Maun & depart
We leave camp in good time to enjoy a leisurely drive out of Mababe - in order to maximise our wildlife viewing opportunities, before making our way to exit the reserve and join the main gravel road which leads back to Maun Airport, in good time to check in for our flights back to the UK. -
Day 10: Arrive UK
