Snowshoe, ski and sledge your way around a winter wonderland of snowy lakes and forests. Wrap up warm to ride a sled pulled by speedy huskies through the frozen landscape, and feel the icy wind on your cheeks as you go.
On this itinerary, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn essential winter survival skills, such as making a fire, ice fishing and even how to build your own igloo. After each day’s adventure, you can spend the evening relaxing in the Finnish sauna, and with some luck you’ll see the Northern Lights as well!

Typical Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Kuusamo & transfer to Hossa National Park
Fly via Helsinki to Kuusamo. This evening, there will be a single-timed group transfer to Hossa National Park.

Day 2: Snowshoeing adventure
Follow a trail through beautiful snow-covered pine, spruce and birch forest, stopping for a picnic around an open fire on the way.

Day 3: Cross country skiing & Igloo building
Learn one of the most popular hobbies in Finland. After a short instruction you will be ready to test your ski skills on a tour through the pine forests and over the lakes.
This afternoon you can begin building your igloo; the snow will then need to be left to harden overnight.

Day 4: Husky sledding
This morning, visit a husky farm where you will learn to drive a sled before enjoying a tour through the snow white forests and frozen lakes. This afternoon, there will be time to finish building your igloo.

Day 5: Snowshoeing
Today, explore the ascents and descents of the beautiful ridges. The surrounding forests are home to many animals such as elk, wolf, lynx - you will probably spot some of their tracks in the snow.

Day 6: Reindeer farm & wilderness skills
This morning, we visit a local reindeer farm to learn about their behaviour and the remarkable adaptations they've made in order to survive the harsh northern climate. This afternoon, don’t miss the chance to learn about some essential winter survival skills, including ice-fishing! -
Day 7: Free day for optional activities
Equipment is available for you to do some more skiing, sledging or snowshoeing along the many trails in the area.

Day 8: Transfer to Kuusamo Airport & fly to the UK
This morning, there will be a single-timed transfer back to Kuusamo airport for your flight back to the UK.
