Typical Itinerary

1. Day 1: Depart the UK

   Travel on an overnight flight to Kenya.

2. Day 2: Arrive & Transfer to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

   Arrive at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where a warm “Karibu Kenya!” welcome awaits, before a comfortable transfer to your lodge in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

   Later in the afternoon, head out on your first game drive in a 4x4 vehicle with an expert guide, ready to discover the wonders of this diverse and wildlife-rich reserve.

3. Day 3: Optional Wildlife & Conservation Activities

   Spend the day exploring the incredible wildlife and landscapes of Ol Pejeta Conservancy with both morning and afternoon shared game drives, perfect for families eager to experience the magic of safari together. With the help of knowledgeable guides, you can track iconic African wildlife across the savannah - spot elephants grazing near acacia trees, lions lounging in the shade and rhinos ambling across open plains.

   Optional activities at Ol Pejeta allow families to see wildlife conservation in action. You could meet the world’s last two northern white rhinos and hear their incredible story of survival, or visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a refuge for rescued chimpanzees who could not survive in the wild.

   For those seeking more adventure, join rangers on a lion tracking drive, using radio telemetry to monitor prides, or take part in a unique dog-tracking experience, learning how specially trained dogs help protect wildlife from poachers.

4. Day 4: Journey to Lake Nakuru National Park – Afternoon Game Drive

   Travel from Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru, pausing to cross the Equator before beginning your descent into the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. The journey takes you through fertile highlands, bustling roadside towns and eventually into the wide valley floor, where acacia woodlands and shimmering lakes replace the mountain scenery.

   After settling into your lodge and enjoying lunch, set out on an afternoon game drive in the national park. Here, you may spot rhinos grazing on the open plains, flocks of flamingos along the lake’s edge, and predators like lions or leopards moving through the bush.

5. Day 5: Transfer to Lake Naivasha – Boat Safari

   Transfer from Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha, a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley with sweeping views of escarpments, farmland and volcanic landscapes. Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely lunch overlooking the lake before a boat ride to spot hippos, fish eagles and other wildlife.

   For a closer encounter, take an optional guided walk on Crescent Island among giraffes, zebras, and antelope in a safe, predator-free environment.

6. Day 6: Journey to Masai Mara National Reserve

   After an early breakfast, transfer to the Masai Mara, passing rolling savannahs, acacia trees and Masai villages. Spot wildlife along the way, from zebras and impalas to Masai giraffes and cheetahs.

   Arrive for lunch and check-in, then head out for an afternoon game drive to begin your Mara adventure.

7. Day 7: Dawn Game Drives to Sunset Safaris

   Spend a thrilling day in the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives, looking for the Big Five, cheetahs, giraffes and zebras. Return to the lodge to relax between drives.

   Take an optional visit to a Masai village to learn about local culture and traditions, rounding out a day of wildlife and family adventure.

8. Day 8: Return to Nairobi

   After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi, passing savannahs, hills and farmland. Pause for optional refreshments or a local lunch, then arrive in the city to check in and unwind, reflecting on your unforgettable Kenyan adventure.

9. Day 9: Depart Nairobi & Arrive in the UK

   After breakfast, check out and transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home. Relax on your journey, carrying unforgettable memories of Kenya’s wildlife and landscapes.

10. Days 9-11 : OPTIONAL EXTENSION: Nairobi or Diani Beach

    For an extension, spend a night or two in Nairobi to blend city life with wildlife encounters. Visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Trust, Giraffe Centre, Masai Markets, and explore museums, then enjoy the city’s vibrant dining scene.

    Alternatively, extend your stay at Diani Beach to fully soak up Kenya’s idyllic coastline. Spend your days unwinding on pristine white sands, swimming in warm turquoise waters, or enjoying the resort’s pool and wellness facilities.

    Adventure options here are in abundance, from snorkelling over vibrant coral reefs and spotting tropical fish, to sailing on traditional dhows at sunset. Explore local villages, sample Swahili cuisine, or simply relax with a book under swaying palms.
