Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart the UK

    Travel on a daytime flight to Kenya. Arrive at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where a warm “Karibu Kenya!” welcome awaits before a comfortable transfer to your hotel to relax and recover from your journey.
  2. Day 2: Morning Game Drive, Elephant Sanctuary & Giraffe Centre

    Begin the day with an exciting game drive in Nairobi National Park, where lions, giraffes, rhinos and more roam against the striking backdrop of the city skyline.

    Continue to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage to watch baby elephants being fed and cared for, before heading to the Giraffe Centre to meet endangered Rothschild’s giraffes up close. It’s a morning full of wildlife encounters and hands-on conservation experiences.

  3. Day 3: Journey to Amboseli National Park

    Travel from Nairobi towards Amboseli, passing rural villages, bustling markets and open landscapes, with glimpses of Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days.

    After settling in at your lodge, head out on an afternoon game drive in Amboseli National Park. Here, vast herds of elephants roam beneath the snow-capped peak, alongside lions, giraffes, zebras and wildebeest. Around the marshes, watch for rich birdlife including herons, egrets and African fish eagles.

    It's a perfect introduction to one of Kenya’s most iconic safari landscapes.

  4. Day 4: Game Drives & Masai

    Begin the day with an early morning game drive through Amboseli, when predators like lions and hyenas are most active and elephants, gather at the swamps. Dawn often brings clear views of Mount Kilimanjaro, and there's a chance to spot elusive wildlife such as serval cats and bat-eared foxes. 

    Later, an optional visit to a Masai village is available to explore traditional manyattas, learn about beadwork, ceremonies and cattle culture, and enjoy vibrant songs and dances while supporting the local community. Or, perhaps an optional cultural talk at the lodge with a local Masai speaker, exploring traditions, dress and community life. 

    In the afternoon, set out on a game drive across Amboseli’s plains, watching elephants return to the wetlands, predators stir and the savannah glow under the setting sun—a final chance to spot wildlife before evening.

  5. Day 5: Journey to Tsavo National Park

    Depart Amboseli for Tsavo West, passing rugged volcanic hills, savannah and rural villages, with wildlife sightings along the way. Enjoy an en-route game drive spotting elephants, giraffes, zebras and plains game against dramatic backdrops.

    In the afternoon, explore Mzima Springs along shaded river trails, spotting hippos, crocodiles and birds. Visit the striking Shetani Lava Flow, a jagged black volcanic landscape steeped in local folklore, with more opportunities to encounter wildlife as the sun sets.

  6. Day 6: Dawn Game Drives to Sunset Safaris

    Start the day with an early morning game drive across open savannah, bushland and riverine areas, spotting elephants, lions, zebras and other wildlife in the cooler hours. Return to the lodge for lunch and a chance to relax, or join an optional nature walk with the lodge naturalist to explore the surrounding terrain and observe local flora and fauna.

    In the afternoon, head out again for a game drive, watching animals in late-afternoon activity against dramatic volcanic hills and sweeping plains, with the chance to spot Big Five species.

  7. Day 7: Take the train to the coast

    The morning begins with a scenic drive to Mtito Andei SGR Station, offering final glimpses of savannah, acacia trees and occasional wildlife along the way.

    Board the First Class train carriage to Mombasa, enjoying spacious, air-conditioned carriages, large windows and light refreshments as the landscape gradually shifts from dry plains to lush coastal hills.

    Upon arrival, you're met and transferred to your Diani Beach accommodation, ready to unwind and soak up the sun after a memorable journey through Kenya’s wilderness.

  8. Days 8-9 : Days at Leisure

    Enjoy two days of leisure at Diani Beach, with the freedom to relax at your resort or dive into optional activities.

    Snorkel vibrant coral reefs, try deep-sea fishing, or sail on a traditional dhow along the coast. Explore marine parks to spot dolphins and turtles, or take guided nature walks and cultural visits to local villages.

    With half-day and full-day options, there's something for every family member to enjoy, from adventure and discovery to pure relaxation in a stunning coastal setting.

  9. Day 10: Depart Mombasa

    Spend your final morning at leisure, enjoying a last swim, sunbathing, or a peaceful walk along the beach.

    Later, transfer to Mombasa’s Moi International Airport for your onward flight, carrying memories of wildlife, adventure and coastal relaxation from your unforgettable Kenyan journey.

  10. Day 11: Arrive in UK

  11. Days 10-12 : OPTIONAL EXTENSION: Diani Beach

    Extend your stay at Diani Beach to fully soak up Kenya’s idyllic coastline. Spend extra days unwinding on pristine white sands, swimming in warm turquoise waters, or enjoying the resort’s pool and wellness facilities. Adventure options abound, from snorkelling over vibrant coral reefs and spotting tropical fish, to sailing on traditional dhows at sunset.
