We start our family holiday in Java by exploring and tasting the amazing street food of Yogyakarta and finding out how a local legend could help a wish come true. Next our adventure on the island of Java takes to one of Indonesia's iconic volcanoes where we learn about the volcano's geology, hike in the verdant jungles on the slopes surrounded by beautiful tropical plants and enjoy an adventurous safari to view the lava fields. The adventure on Java finishes with a day cycling around a traditional village and learning to cook some special family recipes for a feast of home cooked food.
We then continue on the exotic island of Bali where we discover the ancient jungle temple of Gunung Kawi, walk through the lush rice paddies, and learn traditional dances and practice traditional carving skills in the beautiful landscapes of Ubud. We can also enjoy white-water rafting on the Ayung River lined with villages and passing through enchanting gorges with cascading waterfalls. To round off this family holiday in Bali, we spend some time relaxing on the beaches of Sanur.

Day 1: Depart UK
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Yogyakarta.

Day 2: Arrive Yogyakarta
On arrival in Yogyakarta, meet our guide and transfer to our hotel in the city.

Day 3: Food Hopping Around Yogyakarta
Take an evening food tour around Yogyakarta sampling local specialities including ‘Joss’ and ‘Lumpia’ and take a ride on a traditional Andong to sacred Banyan trees to see if you can make a wish come true. -
Day 4: Merapi Volcano Adventure
Spend the morning exploring the jungle-covered slopes by foot in search of orchids, followed by an afternoon on a safari tour of the volcano's lava fields. -
Day 5: Village Cycling & Family Cooking Class
Cycle around a candirejo village in the Javan countryside, learning about traditional village life and buying fresh ingredients from the market for our cooking class with a local chef making Javan dishes to a family recipe. -
Day 6: Fly from Java to Bali
Take an early afternoon flight to the island of Bali and transfer to the beautiful town of Ubud. -
Day 7: Balinese Wood Carving or Balinese Dance Class & Explore Ancient Temples & Rice Paddies
This morning, choose between learning traditional Balinese wood carving skills or taking a Balinese dance class. In the afternoon, explore the jungle-covered Gunung Kawi temple and hike through the surrounding rice paddies. -
Day 8: Ayung River White Water Rafting & Transfer to the Beach at Sanur
This morning enjoy a thrilling white-water rafting session down the Ayung River and after lunch transfer to the beach town of Sanur. -
Day 9: Day at leisure in Sanur
Today is at your leisure to enjoy the beach and markets for souvenir shopping in Sanur. -
Day 10: Depart Bali
Transfer to Denpasar for our flight home. -
