This is a fantastic, tailor-made rail journey through Japan's famous highlights. From Tokyo to Hiroshima you make use of the elegant Bullet Train to cover the country in quick time so you can enjoy seeing the modern, ancient, cultural and natural marvels of Japan.
Starting in Tokyo, you tour the sites of Japan's capital, seeing ancient temples, modern shopping and pop culture streets, the famous chaotic Shibuya crossing and fun Sumo experience. Then from Tokyo you take day trips out to visit two of Japan's most iconic sites of Mount Fuji and the monkeys of Nagano.
From Tokyo, you zoom across the country to Kyoto to immerse yourself in ancient and traditional customs and engaging cultural activities, from having dinner with elegant Maiko girls to learning some special skills of the Samurai Warriors. From Kyoto, you visit the memorials and peace gardens of the haunting Hiroshima and Miyajima and finish your tour in Osaka, visiting the famous friendly deer in Nara and sampling the exquisite street food of the Dontoburi district of Osaka.

Day 1: Depart UK
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Tokyo.

Day 2: Arrive Tokyo
On arrival in Tokyo, transfer to your hotel.

Day 3: Tokyo city tour
Explore the capital of Japan with its famous landmarks and pop culture. On your tour, you may see Asakusa, Tokyo’s old town, Sensoji Temple, where you can see Japanese temple customs, Shibuya Crossing and Harajuku cosplay street. Later, enjoy a sumo experience.

Day 4: Day trip to Hakone
Take a guided trip to Hakone to see Mount Fuji and enjoy a boat ride on the lake.

Day 5: Day trip to Nagano
Take the bullet train to Nagano to see the famous monkeys in bathing in pools. -
Day 6: Bullet Train to Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan & afternoon tea ceremony
Take a train to Kyoto, home to over 2,000 temples and shrines, including 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Join a tea ceremony in the afternoon.

Day 7: Kyoto Tour & Maiko Dinner
See some of the ancient temples of Kyoto, the Instagrammable Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, and enjoy an evening dinner and dance performance by traditional Maiko girls. -
Day 8: Morning Samurai experience & take the Bullet Train to Hiroshima
Learn Samurai skills in the morning and then take the bullet train to Hiroshima, a well-known historical city where, on August 6, 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. After years of recovery, Hiroshima is now a bustling city.

Day 9: Explore Hiroshima & visit the holy island of Miyajima
Visit the A-Bomb Dome, cross the Motoyasu Bridge to the Children’s Peace Monument, passing the Cenotaph for the A-Bomb Victims and finish the morning at the Peace memorial Museum. Then take a ferry to see the historical and religious sites on Miyajima Island.

Day 10: Nara Deer Park & Osaka street food tour
Visit Nara to see the friendly deer in Nara Park and enjoy a tour of Osaka’s street food district.

Day 11: Depart Osaka for the UK
Transfer to Osaka airport for your flight home.
