Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrive Costa Rica

    Take a daytime flight to Liberia, in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica and transfer to your accommodation in Rincon de la Vieja.
  2. Day 2: Rincon de la Vieja

    Take a guided tour of Rincon de la Vieja National Park and Volcano. In the afternoon, you can choose from an optional visit to Río Negro hot springs to bathe in the thermal, mineral-rich waters or take an easy walking trail to Las Chorreras waterfall.
  3. Day 3: Tenorio Volcano National Park

    Today, take a guided hike through the forest to reach the famous Celeste River, where you're met by the incredible sky-blue colour of the basin of the plunging Rio Celeste Waterfall. Continue onwards to Volcán Arenal National Park.
  4. Day 4: Sloth Rescue Centre

    Take an educational tour to learn about these fascinating, tree-dwelling mammals at a sloth rescue and rehabilitation centre. In the afternoon, you may choose to visit Eco Termales Hot Springs to relax and listen to the sounds of the rainforest surrounding you whilst you experience a natural hydro-massage in the nourishing waters.
  5. Day 5: La Fortuna Waterfall

    After a short hike to the La Fortuna Waterfall, take a refreshing dip in the pool below. 
  6. Day 6: Travel to Tortuguero National Park

    Journey through banana plantations before boarding a boat that takes you through rainforest waterways where you see wildlife such as monkeys, crocodiles and turtles. Visit a small village that has strong Afro-Caribbean roots and discover the charm of this simple, charming village.
  7. Day 7: Tortuguero National Park

    Explore this remote national park on the Caribbean coast and search for the three-toed sloth, jaguar, spider monkey, howler monkey and capuchin monkey in addition to hundreds of birds, reptiles and insects.
  8. Day 8: Journey to Puerto Viejo de Limón

    Enjoy the boat ride through the canals of Tortuguero back to Guápiles, before your onward road journey to the charming laid-back beach town on the Caribbean coast.
  9. Day 9: Day at leisure or choose from several optional activities

    Spend the day enjoying the sunshine and waters of the Caribbean Sea or go kayaking, surfing, snorkelling or on a guided hike through Cahuita National Park.
  10. Day 10: Travel inland to Turrialba

    After breakfast, travel inland to your next stop where you can choose to relax by the hotel pool, take a nature trail or go horseback riding through sugarcane and coffee plantations.
  11. Day 11: Turrialba

    Explore the area on your own, or choose an adrenaline-fuelled activity, such as white-water rafting on the Pejibaye River.
  12. Day 12: Horse riding in Atirro area

    Take in the Turrialba Valley with the volcano as your backdrop, as you ride your horses through sugarcane and coffee plantations. Then travel to your next stop, San Gerado de Dota.
  13. Day 13: San Gerardo de Dota

    Head out on search for the mythical and resplendent quetzal on your own or with an expert guide before continuing your journey to the Pacific Coast.
  14. Day 14: Whale & dolphin boat tour in Marino Ballena National Park

    Choose to explore the national park by land or water and if you visit during the summer, search for majestic humpback whales on a boat trip.
  15. Day 15: Puerto Jiménez & Sierpe Mangroves boat tour

    Head south to the Oso Peninsula, and on route, navigate the jungle waterways of the Sierpe Mangroves in search of wildlife.
  16. Day 16: Corcovado National Park

    A visit to this region of Costa Rica would not be complete without exploring Corcovado National Park to admire the pristine forest and dense flora and fauna of this world-famous national park. Search for the largest land mammal in Central America, the Baird’s tapir, and many other species of wildlife.
  17. Day 17: Finca 6 Museum & Manuel Antonio National Park

    Visit the UNESCO World Heritage and archaeological site to see two pre-Columbian spheres before journeying further on the coastal highway to Manuel Antonio.
  18. Day 18: Day at leisure or explore the local area

    There are many trips you can choose to explore the local area, such as fishing, canopy tours and nocturnal wildlife tours, or spend some time relaxing around the hotel pool and go snorkelling from the beach.
  19. Day 19: Crocodile safari on the Tárcoles River

    Travel up the central pacific coastal road, stopping to join a river boat safari in search of crocodiles through the dense channels of the Guacalillo mangrove swamp. Continue north to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.

  20. Day 20: Monteverde Cloud Forest

    Where the weather systems from both the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans meet, this cloudforest ecosystem creates a rich biodiversity. Here, you can choose from many exciting activities including ziplining, an aerial tram ride or a guided expedition on the hanging bridges.
