On this family adventure, we introduce you to one of Turkey's most iconic regions, Cappadocia, which has a long history, a mix of beautiful valleys, a wealth of ancient houses and churches carved into the rocks and stunning pinnacles of rock towering into the sky.

We begin our trip in the valleys and villages of Cappadocia where we explore by foot and bike the Fairy Chimneys, open-air museums and ancient castles of the White, Uzengi and Gomeda Valleys. We also have a go at making some of our own pottery in a family run studio in Avanos and visiting a local family in Ayvali where we experience the famous Turkish hospitality and cook ourselves some traditional Turkish food for a delicious lunchtime feast.
Whilst in Cappadocia, we can see the Taurus mountain range to the north and the second part of our adventure takes us into the Aladaglar National Park, which forms part of the range. On our way to the mountains, we explore ancient underground cities and the beautiful Ilhara Canyon, before we settle in to enjoy the warm welcome and hospitality of our village guest house. The following two days are spent hiking in the mountains, having picnics on the plateaus and valleys, swimming in mountain lakes and learning some valuable camping skills.

Day 1: Depart UK & Arrive in Cappadocia
Fly from the UK to Kayseri and transfer to the beautiful landscapes of Cappadocia. -
Day 2: Full Day Exploration of Cappadocia
Start the day by exploring the fortress at Uchisar before hiking through the beautiful white valley to the Zelve Open Air Museum. Finish the day by learning to make your own pottery in Avanos. -
Day 3: Cycle the Villages and Valleys of Cappadocia
Take a scenic bike ride through the villages of Ortahisar and Ibrahim Pasha, and the Gomeda and Uzengi valleys discovering ancient rock cut churches, beautiful fairy chimneys and refreshing drinks in Turkish tea houses. -
Day 4: Optional Morning Horse Ride & Afternoon Cooking Class
This morning we have the option to take a horse ride through the early morning nature of Cappadocia. This afternoon, we visit a family in the village of Ayvani and learn to cook some traditional Turkish food. -
Day 5: Drive to the Aladaglar National Park
Today we head into the Taurus Mountains. On the way, we visit the underground city of Kaymakli, take a walk down the beautiful Ilhara Canyon and explore the impressive Selime monastery. -
Day 6: Hike in the Taurus Mountains to the Emli Valley & Camping Skills Workshop
Today we have a beautiful hike on the Eznevit Plateau and down the forest paths of the Siyirmalik Valley to the Emli Valley for a workshop on essential mountain skills.

Day 7: Hike to Dipsiz Lake
This morning we take a jeep up to the Arpalik Plateau and follow hiking paths along the river bed to the inviting Dipsiz lake for a swim and picnic. -
Day 8: Drive to Kayseri & Fly Home
Today we drive back to Kayseri airport for our flight home. -

Stay longer in Turkey to visit the beautiful and sun drenched Lycian Coast. Home to the famous Lycian Way, beautiful beaches and historical islands.
