Enjoy fantastic wildlife watching opportunities on this family safari adventure in northern Botswana’s vast and varied landscapes. Visit the waterways of the Okavango Delta, the grasslands and floodplains of the Khwai Concession and the fascinating ecosystem of Savuti. Spend time on game drives in search of wildlife such as lion, leopard, elephant and wild dog, as well as herds of zebra, buffalo and giraffe. Witness abundant birdlife and enjoy night-time game drives while staying in a fully serviced mobile safari camp.
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Maun.
A representative will meet you on arrival and transfer you to your accommodation, a mobile safari camp in Moremi. Your safari begins en route to the camp, as there will be wildlife watching opportunities along the way.
Wake up for an early breakfast before a dawn game drive, returning around mid-morning. In the afternoon you will be free to enjoy lunch and some relaxation time before departing on another game drive; return at dusk for dinner.
Take a leisurely drive through Moremi Wildlife Reserve and from there to the Khwai Concession, where your camp will be based for the next three nights. This is one of the most scenic parts of the Okavango; you will pass through bush and vast tracts of forest and along the Khwai and Manuchira Rivers, stopping for wildlife viewing opportunities and a picnic lunch along the way.
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, as well as some relaxation time during the day. In the Khwai Concession night drives are possible, so you will be able to have additional wildlife watching opportunities, going in search of nocturnal birds and mammals. Look out for African civet, lesser bush-baby and leopard as well as birds such as the pennant-winged nightjar and the giant eagle owl.
Continue to Savuti for your final three nights on safari. This area has a dense concentration of wildlife and is fantastic for sightings of cats, including lions and leopards, as well as old bull elephants and wild dogs, plus birds such as carmine bee-eaters and fish eagle. It is also possible to see zebra and buffalo as they congregate along the river and around waterholes.
This morning you will say goodbye to your crew and transfer to Kasane for your final night. This evening, you will take a sunset boat cruise along the Chobe River which is a magnet for birds and other wildlife. Look out for buffalo and zebra along the banks of the river, as well as hippos, crocodiles and birds such as kingfishers and martial eagles.
Transfer to the airport in time for your flight back to the UK. Most flights arrive the following morning.
