Families Worldwide Jump to main menu

This family safari in Kruger will immerse your family in the beauty of the national park, not just for the Big Five sightings, but for its vast landscapes, traditional culture and diverse wildlife. And, staying at just two lodges means more time for safaris.

  • Search for the iconic Big Five
  • Includes six game drives
  • Hike in the Sabie River Valley
  • Go on an exciting rafting experience
  • Join a junior safari bush walk

Spending the first half of the trip in the southern region of Kruger National Park, on the banks of the Sabie River, venture out on daily game drives. Discover unique wildlife, including the elusive leopard, which is more commonly seen in this area.

Transferring between lodges takes you on a hike in the Sabie River Valley before a thrilling white-water rafting adventure.

The second half of the trip takes you into the central Kruger region and the Manyeleti Game Reserve for more daily game drives and the opportunity to spot some incredible wildlife.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart UK

Fly overnight to Kruger, via Johannesburg.
  2. Day 2: Arrive in Kruger

We are met at the airport and transferred to our first safari lodge.
  3. Day 3: Free Morning and Afternoon Safari

This morning we have some free time to enjoy the lodge facilities, before we head out on our first safari this afternoon in search of the iconic Big Five. Elephants are most likely going to be first on our list, with around 12,000 roaming the park. Leopards are the hardest to find and sleekest hunters in the bush with only 1,000 throughout the park, hopefully we are lucky!
  4. Day 4: Morning Safari and afternoon at leisure

As the sun rises, beautiful colours light up the landscape, and we start looking for wildlife among the grasses this morning. Lions carefully blend in with the bush with their light yellow-brown coat, however look for vultures circling in the air as this can indicate lions hunting below.

This afternoon, we can enjoy the facilities at the lodge, such as challenging your kids to a game of giant chess, play a game of mini golf or relax at the pool.

  5. Day 5: White-Water Rafting

We check out and head to Extreme Adventure Camp for a short hike and lunch, followed by an afternoon of white-water rafting on the Sabie River.

We then continue our journey north to our next lodge on the banks of the river in the Manyeleti Private Game Reserve, a concession that borders Kruger National Park.

  6. Day 6: Morning and Afternoon Safaris

We experience two game drives today in search of more wildlife. There is a good chance we will have seen a white rhino by now, however the black rhino are much rarer.

We have a few hours back at the lodge in-between where we can take part in junior safari bush walks, bead-making, crafts and a refreshing dip in the pool.

  7. Day 7: Morning and Afternoon Safaris

With another two game drives today, we have lots of opportunity to spot more wildlife – why not search for the little five – antlion, eastern rock elephant shrew, leopard tortoise, red-billed buffalo weaver and rhino beetle!
  8. Day 8: Depart Kruger

We leave Kruger National Park behind us and return to the airport for our overnight flight back to the UK
  9. Day 9: Arrive UK

  10. Days 9-12 : OPTIONAL EXTENSIONS: Johannesburg or Cape Town

Choose to stop in Johannesburg before or after the trip to explore the city or step back in time to when man first walked the earth at Cradle of Humankind World Hertiage Site. Alternatively, fly to Cape Town, where there are family-friendly beaches, penguin encounters and of course the iconic natural landmark of Table Mountain, offering awe-inspiring views.
