Your Frequently Asked Questions

Our team has been busy collecting your most frequently asked questions to help answer some of your queries.

What will my group be like?

Every departure is different, but on a full trip you can expect to travel with two to four other families. You can ask when you book about the current confirmed bookings and we will be happy to give you an idea of the size and ages of other families booked. Occasionally, it may be just your family on a tour so you?ll be getting a private experience at no extra cost.

When is the best time to travel?

It depends on the holiday and the destination – the winter activity trips aren’t that popular in August! Our trips mainly run during the school holidays – they are designed for families after all. There is so much more to consider than just the weather so tell us what’s important to you and we’ll advise you on when it’s best to travel.

Is every trip guaranteed to run?

We need a minimum number of participants to run our tours. We will always try to run every scheduled departure even if only one family is booked, however this may not always be possible. If we have to cancel your trip due to lack of numbers we will offer you an alternative or a refund will be given. Departures that are already guaranteed are listed as so.

Can I request a specific room type?

We can arrange family, twin, double or triple rooms on most of our tours. If you have a preference please let us know at the time of booking and we?ll do our best to arrange this. We can also arrange interconnecting or adjacent rooms if requested.

Will I have free time to relax with my family?

All our trips are designed to allow some free time so you can go off on your own as a family. You might want to try some extra activities or just relax and have fun together – it’s up to you. Many of our itineraries allow for extensions where you can stay a little longer after your tour to take advantage of a beach or city stay. Ask your travel specialist when you book for more information.

What does ‘Age Guide’ mean on each trip page?

Every trip we run has been assessed to give a guideline age we think the trip is most suitable for, however, this can be flexible and depends on the nature of the rest of your family and the other families already booked. We have trips planned specifically for younger children and for families with teens, but we appreciate there can often be a wide age difference within families. Please speak to one of our specialists if you have any concerns, they will be happy to discuss the itinerary in more depth with you.

Where can I get more information about a specific trip?

Every trip has trip notes which can be downloaded from the trip’s page on our website. Here you’ll find a day-by-day itinerary and lots of interesting background information on each trip and destination.

At what age do I need to pay the adult price for my child?

If your children are aged 12 and above, you will need to pay adult prices. This is because airlines charge full adult fares for children of this age.

Will we have a pool?

Wherever possible we use hotels with swimming pools, but in some areas this is not possible. There may be, however, the opportunity to swim in the sea, river or even a lake.

How safe are these trips for families?

All our holidays are planned with the safety and security of your family in mind. We work closely with our in-country partners before and during your trip and always follow Foreign Office advice regarding travel to a region. In the modern world there are sadly risks associated with day-to-day life in most countries, but we will always do everything we can to ensure you have a safe and relaxing holiday.

Do we need visas?

That depends not only on where you are travelling to, but also on your own nationality. Most are fairly straightforward to apply for, but if you need some extra help you can contact our friends at the Visa Machine (www.thevisamachine.com).

Will my family need vaccinations?

Again, that depends on where you are travelling. We recommend you speak to your GP or travel clinic prior to departure as they will have the most up-to-date information.

Do I need to arrange travel insurance?

Travel insurance is compulsory on all our holidays. We recommend you take out cover from the time of booking in case you need to cancel.
