Sri Lanka possesses enormous variety. An amazing history of early Buddhism, lush green forests and jungle, cool highlands, ornate temples and wonderful food. But what people remember most are the people - among the friendliest in Asia.
Our trip will allow for plenty of interaction with them and so you'll learn about their culture, dance, clothes, customs, religion and food. Oh, and don't forget those 'Bounty Bar' beaches with their outrigger canoes and stilt fishermen.
Accommodation and transport is comfortable. The people of Sri Lanka are extremely friendly and will generally make you feel very welcome, but be prepared for occasional 'culture shock'. If you have young children, we leave it for you to decide whether you think they will enjoy the cultural delights of this vibrant country. You know your kids best!
- Day 1/2. Fly to Columbo
- Fly to Columbo. Arrive and drive to Negombo Beach.
- Day 3/4. Drive to Dambulla
- Drive to Dambulla; visit caves and temple. Drive to Polonnaruwa to see Buddha statues.
- Day 5. Cycle ride through villages.
- Cycle ride through villages. Cooking lesson with villagers.
- Day 6. Drive to Sigiriya
- Drive to Sigiriya; climb rock. Visit Spice Garden. Drive to Kandy.
- Day 7. Kandy
- In Kandy; city tour. Visit Kandyan dancer's home and Temple of the Tooth.
- Day 8. Drive to Nuwara Eliya
- Drive to Nuwara Eliya; visit Tea Plantation Factory and Botanical Garden.
- Day 9/10. Yala NP.
- Drive via Ella to Yala National Park; game drive.
- Day 11. Drive to Galle
- Drive to Galle; kite flying at Galle Fort. Continue to coast.
- Day 12/13. Relax at the beach
- Day 14. Columbo to London
- Drive to Columbo. Fly to London.

- Maldives Dive Extension
- Spend a week diving at Kuredu in the Maldives. Our 7-day Dive Extension uses great accommodation in a paradise location. Kuredu is known for its whitesand beaches, aquamarine lagoons and abundant marine life. Thatched bungalows and spacious villas line the beach in this all-inclusive resort which has several restaurants, bars and shops. Within an hour's boat-ride are more than 40 dive sites with boat excursions three to five times daily and guided night dives several times a week.
