About Our Holidays

  1. Where can I get more information about a specific trip?

We have detailed travel plans available for each itinerary, which are available on request. As well as the day-by-day itinerary that you can see on this site, each travel plan has lots of additional information.

  2. What’s the difference between a small group holiday and a trip idea?

On a small group holiday, you would join with other families on a set itinerary, departing on the specified date. Our small group holidays are a fun and very cost effective way to travel.

If you wish to enjoy a private holiday for your family, the trip ideas on our website provide inspiration to arrange your own holiday with us. We can also arrange private, flexible departures on the majority of our small group holidays. Please speak to our friendly experts to discuss the options for your family.

  3. How safe are your trips for families?

All our holidays are planned with the safety and security of your family in mind. We work closely with our in-country partners before and during your trip and always follow Foreign Office travel advice. In the modern world there are risks associated with day-to-day life in most countries, but we will always do everything we can to ensure you have a safe and relaxing holiday.

  4. Are only parents & children allowed on your trips?

Our family trips are just that – for the whole family. That means you don’t have to leave aunties, uncles and grandparents at home. As long as there is at least one child under the age of 18 travelling with you, you’re a family group.

  5. At what age do I need to pay the adult price for my child?

If your children are aged 12 and above, you will need to pay adult prices. This is because airlines charge full adult fares for children of these ages.

  6. What is included in the price of your holidays?

For each small group holiday, we provide a full itinerary on our website, along with details of exactly what is included. You may also request a detailed travel plan for further information, which we will provide to you by email.

Our trip ideas are more flexible, and we encourage you to enquire to discuss with us what you wish to include in your itinerary.

Our holidays prices are displayed excluding flights unless indicated otherwise.

  7. How do I find out the price of a holiday including flights?

We always recommend that you also arrange your flights with us for peace of mind, however this is your choice. To obtain an accurate price for your holiday including flights, make a booking request on your preferred departure by clicking the Book button. You'll then have the option to request a price from us including flights as part of your booking process, before we request any deposit from you. If the price of the holiday including flights is higher than you wish to pay, you are not committed to the booking in any way, and may still change your mind.

Alternatively, if you prefer, simply give our friendly team a call on 01962 302 062 to discuss your holiday and flight requirements.

  8. How fixed are the ‘ideal ages’ listed on each itinerary?

Every trip we run has been given an age range that we think is most suitable, however this is just a guide. Age suitability can be flexible and depends on the nature of the rest of your family and the other families already booked. We have trips planned specifically for younger children and for families with teens, but we appreciate there can often be a wide age difference within families. Please speak to one of our specialists if you have any concerns; they will be happy to discuss the itinerary in more depth with you.

  9. Is every departure guaranteed to run?

We need a minimum number of participants to run our group departures. We will always try to run every scheduled departure, even if only one family is booked, but this may not always be possible. If we are not able to run a group tour, we will offer you an alternative, operate the trip as a private, flexible departure for your family, or refund your deposit. Departures that are already guaranteed are listed as such.

Holiday Planning

  1. When is the best time to travel?

It depends on the holiday and the destination – the winter activity trips aren’t that popular in August! Our trips mainly run during the school holidays – they are designed for families after all. There is so much more to consider than just the weather, so tell us what’s important to you and we’ll advise you on when it is best to travel.

  2. What standard of accommodation will we stay in?

Accommodation is clean and simple. You'll mainly stay in small, locally run, 3 star hotels and guesthouses that reflect the character of the area. Generally these will be a twin room with private facilities. Sometimes you'll stay in larger, more comfortable hotels or occasionally rustic accommodation with basic facilities. We use a variety of accommodation on most trips, chosen for their value for money, location and atmosphere. We also try and incorporate unique accommodation experiences, such as a night on an overnight train or sleeping under the stars in the desert.

  3. Can I request a specific room type?

We can arrange family, twin, double or triple rooms on most of our tours. If you have a preference, please let us know at the time of booking and we’ll do our best to arrange this. We can also often arrange interconnecting or adjacent rooms if requested.

  4. Do I need to arrange travel insurance?

Travel insurance is compulsory on all our holidays. As deposits are non-refundable, we recommend you take out cover from the time of booking in case you need to cancel. We can give you a competitive quote for insurance or you are welcome to source your own provider.

  5. Do we need visas?

That depends not only on where you are travelling to, but also on your own nationality. Most visas are fairly straightforward to apply for, but if you need some extra help you can contact our friends at The Visa Machine.

  6. Will my family need vaccinations?

That depends on where you are travelling. We recommend you speak to your GP or travel clinic prior to departure as they will have the most up-to-date information.

Your Holiday Experience

  1. What will my group be like?

Every departure is different, but on a full trip you can expect to travel with two to four other families. You can ask when you book about the current confirmed bookings and we will be happy to give you an idea of the size and ages of other families booked. Occasionally, it may be just your family on a tour so you’ll be getting a private experience at no extra cost.

  2. Will I have free time to relax with my family?

All our trips are designed to allow some free time so that you can go off on your own as a family. You might want to try some extra activities or just relax and have fun together – it’s up to you. Many of our itineraries allow for extensions where you can stay a little longer after your tour to take advantage of a beach or city stay. Ask your travel specialist for more information when you book.

  3. Will we have a pool?

Wherever we can, we use hotels with swimming pools, however in some areas this is not possible. Whether there is a pool or not, there may be the opportunity to swim in the sea, a river or even a lake.

  4. I’m not as active as my children; can I opt out of certain activities?

Yes. Activities that are included in the itinerary are optional, and it may be possible to just watch, stay at the hotel or do some independent exploring. At least one parent or other adult in your family group must accompany any children still participating in the activity.

  5. My child has a food allergy can this be catered for?

We try to accommodate all food requirements, so make sure you advise us at the time of booking. Although we endeavour to have alternative options available, it may be difficult in some restaurants to determine if foods are 100% allergen-free. We advise that you take the same precautions as you would when eating out at a restaurant in your home country, and maybe take along snacks that you know are safe as a precaution.

  6. Are there options for vegetarian meals?

There is usually a vegetarian option available, and most picnic and buffet-style meals will have lots of salads, rice dishes and breads. Unlike big vegetarian destinations like India or South-East Asia, some countries do not traditionally offer a wide range of options for those that do not eat meat. Please talk to our travel experts if in doubt.

  7. My child is a fussy eater. Will there be any special meals for kids?

There are not always specific kids’ menus available, however generally there will be foods that your little ones are familiar with. We eat at local restaurants, and find that more often than not even the fussiest of eaters will try something different yet appealing. We would suggest taking familiar snacks with you from home too, just in case.
