Things to see in Egypt: Sinai
The continents of Asia and Africa collide at Sinai. Bordered on two sides by the Gulfs of Suez and Aqaba, you'll find lunar mountains, rugged desert and stunning marine life competing for your attention. History abounds - the Pharaohs came searching for gold and Moses received the Ten Commandments on top of Mt Sinai - archaeologists have only just scratched the surface of the ancient remains.
St Catherine's Monastery is tucked under the foot of Mt Sinai. This is one of the oldest functioning monasteries in the world and home to a descendant of the 'burning bush' seen by Moses.
