Things to see in Oman: Ras al Hadd

An estimated 20,000 female turtles return to their birth place each year to lay eggs on the beach. Between the months of June to November is the peak laying season, but carefully controlled visitors will be able to see turtles on most days of the year. Watching turtles lay their eggs or hatchlings scramble their way to the water's edge is certainly an experience not to be missed. Visits can be made in the evening/at night and sometimes also at dawn. Nearby is the port town of Sur steeped in history and home to the last remaining Dhow manufacturer in Oman. Here you can watch these traditional boats being crafted.
