Things to see in Botswana: Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta is a wildlife paradise consists of 1.6 million hectares of glistening waterways in the middle of the Kalahari Desert. Instead of flowing into the ocean, the Okavango River's journey ends at a fault line in the Kalahari where it spills onto the sand. The result is a vast tapestry of crystal clear channels, lagoons and small islands which attract a myriad of birds and large concentrations of wildlife.
Any safari will yield fantastic sightings, including red lechwe, sitatunga, reedbuck, hippo, Nile crocodile, sable, roan, blue wildebeest, impala and tsessebe. Even the illusive packs of wild dogs are sighted stalking through the grasslands.
