Things to see in Kenya: Masai Mara
The Masai Mara covers a massive area of 1800 square kilometre and is probably the most famous reserves in Africa. The great migration between July and October is a miraculous feat of nature; but game viewing - particularly of the big cats - is excellent throughout the year. See prides of lions lazing in the sunshine, cheetahs streaking across the plains and watch herds of elephants meandering their way to the watering holes. Spot giraffes popping their heads over acacia trees searching for the juiciest leaves and keep a careful look out for leopard lounging in the branches. A multitude of antelope, zebra and ostrich graze on the fertile grasses; make sure to look into the wooded areas for Cape buffalo and troops of monkeys chatting in the trees. Listen to the hippos belching loudly in the rivers and watch the rapid dart of the crocodiles as they slide silently into the water. Learn how the semi-nomadic Masai continue to exist in this wild and natural environment. The Mara is certainly a delight and not to be missed!
