A short flight or a two hour boat ride away from Bali, is the quieter island of Lombok. With beautiful beaches and renowned for its good snorkelling and diving to be found in the Gili Islands, Lombok makes an excellent extension to Bali. There are plenty of sights to keep young minds interested, from strolling around traditional villages with buffalo in the fields and women sitting weaving. Take a look at a fisherman's market with plenty of strange fish or head to a traditional Sasak village and learn more about the Indonesian way of life. For the more active there are volcanoes to climb, scuba diving and surfing.
