Welcome to Panama

Why Panama should be your next family holiday to Latin America

For colonial towns families usually go to Nicaragua. Those who adore wildlife head to Costa Rica. When you're interested in indigenous culture, you consider Guatemala. For beautiful beaches, you think about Belize. However, if your family is after a little bit of everything, Panama should be high on your list.

The country offers a lot packed into a small area: tropical rainforests, Caribbean beaches and islands, indigenous culture, excellent bird watching, snorkelling, colonial sites and of course the famed canal. The climate is warm and tropical year-round, but unlike much of Central America and the Caribbean, there is no specific hurricane season.

The country's infrastructure is good, with roads mostly excellent. There is good healthcare and hygiene and comfortable accommodation. While the official language is Spanish, English is quite widely spoken. This, combined with numerous flight options makes Panama an easy destination for families to experience the tropics.

There is plenty to keep everyone in the family occupied - you can zipline, raft, snorkel, take boat trips, spot monkeys, sloths and turtles and learn about native cultures. You can even watch how giant cargo ships pass through locks on the famous Panama Canal.

Despite its attractions, Panama is more off the beaten track than some of its neighbours. Its stunning national parks cover five million acres and you won't find yourself in a large group all jostling to catch a glimpse of the same animal here. We use some of the best guides in the country, if not Central America, so you will be in excellent hands if you and your family choose to travel to Panama with us.
