February Half Term Adventure Holidays

February Half Term Holidays Suggestions

What about a bit of winter sun in the gloomiest month of the year? It may not be too late to start thinking about your February Half-Term holiday (most schools break up Friday 10th Feb). Flight seats become scarce from December, so now is the time to book, while we still have availability.

The February half term gives us a wonderful opportunity to go somewhere that is normally too hot in July and August but has perfect spring temperatures. Great places to go are Morocco, Egypt, India, Jordan and Nepal, or go to the other extreme and try snowmobiling and husky sledding in Finland or Slovakia and enjoy these snowy destinations.

Here are a few destinations we particularly recommend:-

KENYA

Rift Valley Explorer

Masai dancers, Kenya This holiday explores the diversity of Kenya's landscapes and wildlife. Incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro from Amboseli NP. Witness the serene beauty of the Rift Valley lakes, with flamingo-filled Lake Nakuru and the grassy plains of the Masai Mara, teeming with game. For full details see our Rift Valley Explorer Itinerary.

EGYPT

Nile Cruise

Sphinx and Pyramids There's plenty of time to relax and also absorb the history of Ancient Egypt on this holiday. From the bustle of Cairo, the grandeur of the pyramids and the treasures of Tutankhamun, you'll take an overnight train to Aswan. Here you'll board a cruise boat for three days that meanders down the Nile stopping off en route at the temples of Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. You can ride on camels, donkeys and on a calesh. You can extend this trip to include a few days on the beach at Hurghada where you can explore the coral with a snorkel. For full details see our Nile Cruise itinerary.

MOROCCO

Kasbah's and Camels

Kasbah & Camel This trip is specifically designed to give a taste of the variety and colour of Morocco. Travelling by minibus, you'll head across the Atlas Mountains, stopping to visit the spectacular Ait Benhaddou kasbah made famous in the film Gladiator. Learn about the life of the friendly and hospitable Berber tribes as you stay in their simple mountain villages. For full details see our Kasbah's and Camels Itinerary.

FINLAND

Ice Pop!

Fishing in Finland This is a perfect short winter break and snow is guaranteed! Based in a comfortable hotel right on the Arctic Circle, you'll be able to experience a range of winter activities such as snowmobiling and a dog-sled safari with a team of huskies. One day is set aside for optional activities and you can choose from ice-fishing, sleigh rides, cross-country skiing or a snowshoe walking tip. Relax in a Finnish sauna at the end of the day, and hopefully one of nature's most glorious shows, the Northern Lights, will also put in an appearance. Extend your visit with an optional stay at a stunning Snow Hotel. For full details see our Ice Pop! itinerary.

THAILAND

Rainforests & Islands

Relaxing on the beach, Thailand Explore Bangkok, then ride an elephant through the jungle, and snorkel on the coral reefs - these are just a few of the highlights of this fantastic holiday. The rainforest at Khao Sok National Park is your first stop and here you'll stay in a jungle lodge, ride an elephant and explore the forest by canoe. You'll spend a few days on the coast at Ao Nang where there is time to unwind but also experience the excitement of a sea-kayaking trip along the towering limestone cliffs. Lastly you'll head to the island of Phuket for a final burst of paradise and the chance to explore the coral reef. For full details see our Rainforests & Islands itinerary.

INDIA

Backwaters of Kerala

India fishing boat The state of Kerala, in India's warm, tranquil south, is both fascinating and exotic. You'll learn about the bizarre rituals of the Kathakali dancers and watch your kids dress up too! Then, a change of scene at the old British Hill Station of Munnar, set in the cool Western Ghats, before dropping down onto the plains again to visit the most famous temple (and spectacular) in India - the Sri Menakshi in Madurai. At Periyar you'll see herds of wild elephant. Then relax as you cruise the silent backwaters of Malabar's rivers and lakes by converted rice-barge. If you have time, you can also extend your stay and enjoy the wonderful beaches of Mararikulam. Backwaters of Kerala Itinerary.

JORDAN

Crusaders & Camels

Camel Train, Jordan The highlights of this holiday are Wadi Rum, where Lawrence of Arabia comes to mind, and Petra with its amazing temples carved out of the rose-coloured stone - and the film set for The English Patient. However. there is so much more - from swimming in the Dead Sea (or trying to), to Bedouin-style desert camping, sleeping out under the stars. Enjoy camel treks and jeep safaris, and a visit to the magnificent Crusader castle of Kerak. A real kids travel adventure! For full details see our Crusaders & Camels itinerary
