Feluccas & Pyramids

Egypt makes a great christmas holiday destination - history lessons come alive on this trip. Your family will be able immerse themselves in Egyptian life. Along with the ancient sites of Egypt such as the pyramids and temples, you'll travel by overnight train to Aswan and then spend one night sailing down the Nile on a felucca -sleep on deck under the stars. Nile Cruise & Red Sea

There's plenty of time to relax and also absorb the history of Ancient Egypt on this holiday. From the bustle of Cairo, the grandeur of the pyramids and the treasures of Tutankhamun you'll then take an overnight train to Aswan. Here you'll board a cruise boat for three days that meanders down the Nile stopping off en route at the temples of Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. You can ride on camels, donkeys and on a calesh. On the fringes of the Sahara, you will find nomad camps, desert markets and rock gorges as well as the stunning spectacle of giant sand dunes. This is real desert trekking and your imagination will be able to run wild in this perpetual wilderness. Of course you will have your camels with you so that if you fancy a ride you can climb on. It's all well within the capabilities of young children. There will be plenty of free time to climb the dunes and play in the sand. Walk in the Western Atlas

This is a very popular holiday with families looking for something a bit different. From the buzz of the bazaars in Taroudant, you'll head into the unspoiled villages of the Western Atlas. Here time has stood still and you'll have a few delightful days walking amongst the walnut, banana and olive groves, staying in Berber villages in simple guesthouses. The walking is not hard but there are mules on standby for weary children. If you have a few extra days to spare you might like to extend the trip to Essaouira, an old colonial pirate port with beach, craft shops and winding alleyways. Jungle Book

This trip highlights the India of Rudyard Kipling. Arriving in Mumbai (Bombay), you'll fly up to Pench Tiger Reserve, one of the outposts of Project Tiger. The river attracts all the prey and so of course the tiger hangs out here too, and area was the inspiration for Kipling's Jungle Book. From Pench you'll drive to Kanha National Park, one India's largest parks with a huge variety of wildlife for lots of game viewing. Excerpts from the Jungle Book will be read to the children on the banks of the river by a local school teacher. To round out your Indian trip you will take an overnight train to Agra to visit the unforgettable Taj Mahal and fly back to London from Delhi.
