Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart UK

Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Lusaka.

  2. Day 2: Arrive Lusaka, fly to Lower Zambezi

On arrival in Lusaka, take a connecting flight to Royal Airstrip and transfer to Kasaka River Lodge. You’ll stay in one of the eight luxury tented chalets with en suite bathroom, each tastefully decorated with an authentic Africa flair. All meals, drinks, park fees and safari activities are included during your stay at the lodge.

Depending on what time you arrive at the lodge, settled in and had some refreshments, you can start your African adventure on a boat cruise or a game drive.

  3. Days 3-5 : Safari in the Lower Zambezi

The next few days are spent enjoying the thrill and excitement of wildlife viewing in the African bush and on the Zambezi River.

Activities are generally four hours' duration, with morning activities departing after breakfast and getting back to camp for lunch. Afternoon activities usually set out after afternoon tea. (For longer activities a packed lunch can be provided.) Game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles accompanied by an experienced local ranger/driver; refreshments are provided and sundowners are offered to take advantage of the beautiful African sunsets.

Kasaka River Lodge offers younger children a ‘pick-a-poo’ bush walk where a guide will provide children with tracking skills in and around the camp. In addition to the ‘bush kids’ programme designed for children aged between six and 13, there is a large collection of games and books located in the lodge’s library.

  4. Day 6: Fly to South Luangwa National Park

Today you’ll transfer to the airstrip for a flight to Lusaka, then on to Mfuwe where you will be met and transferred to Flatdogs Camp. Located on the banks of the Luangwa River, Flatdog's safari tents have great views of the valley and you’ll have wonderful wildlife viewing opportunities. The en suite chalets are ideal for families: there is a large double room downstairs and an airy twin or triple room upstairs for the kids. There is a small kitchen area with tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a fridge for keeping cold water and drinks. There is a verandah around the whole chalet and all the beds have large mosquito nets. All meals, park fees and safari activities are included at Flatdogs Camp, as well as drinks on game drives.

Enjoy an afternoon safari with sundowners, returning after dark in time for dinner.

  5. Days 7-9 : Safaris in South Luangwa National Park

The next few days are spent on wildlife safaris, chilling by the pool and visiting local commmunity projects. A typical day may start with an early breakfast before heading out around 6am on a morning drive. You’ll head back to camp mid-morning in time for brunch before a siesta in the afternoon by the pool perhaps? Then off for another exciting afternoon drive.
