Your children will love seeing elephants, lions and giraffes out in the wild, as well as exploring local villages and bird watching by canoe. Days are filled with wildlife safaris and boat trips, with evenings spent around the campfire, reliving everything seen during the day. This really is the ultimate African safari!.
Day1: Depart UK
Fly to Dar es Salaam on an overnight flight.
Day2: Arrive Dar es Salaam
On arrival, make your way to the group hotel in Dar es Salaam. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day3: Fly to Kilimanjaro, transfer to Lake Manyara, afternoon safari
You will be met on arrival by our local representative and transferred to your tented camp overlooking Lake Manyara.
Day4: Wildlife safari in Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, head out for a full day’s game drive in Tarangire National Park, famous for its great herds of elephants.
Day5: Cycling at Lake Manyara
Your guide will take you on a bicycle ride to the shores of Lake Manyara, from where you can cycle through the forest and onto a nearby village. The afternoon is free to relax or to enjoy optional activities locally.
Day6: Elephant Caves & Ngorongoro Forest
Drive to Karatu on the edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you can enjoy a walk through the forest to the elephant caves.
Day7: Full day wildlife safari through Ngorongoro highlands & Serengeti
Today enjoy a game drive through the Ngorongoro Highlands, stopping to enjoy the spectacular views from the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Continue through the western corridor of the Serengeti before arriving at your camp, situated on the waterways of the famous source of the Nile, Lake Victoria.
Day8: Village visit & canoeing
Take a motor boat across Lake Victoria to a traditional village where you will see the morning fish market in progress, before exploring the waterways of Victoria Island by canoe in the afternoon.
Day9: Wildlife safari in the Serengeti
A full day’s game drive through the diverse western corridor of the Serengeti, where children should be on the lookout for gatherings of wildebeest and zebra, as well as buffalo, elephants and giraffes.
Day10: Transfer to Mwanza, fly to Zanzibar
Drive to Mwanza for a flight via Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar, where you will be met and transferred to your beach hotel in Nungwi.
Day11: Zanzibar: Village walking tour
Explore local life with a walk along the beach to the nearby village and sample some local foods.
Day12: Zanzibar: Free day in Nungwi
Today is free to explore Nungwi, relax on the beach or at the hotel, or take part in optional activities in the area.
Day13: Walking tour of Stone Town & fly back to the UK
Transfer to Stone Town for a walking tour around the city, and visit a spice farm. Depart this evening for your overnight flights back to the UK.
Alternatively, you may wish to extend your trip with a few extra days on Zanzibar to truly unwind.
Day14: Arrive UK
You should note: You can extend this family holiday with an extra few days in Tanzania. Zanzibar is one of those bucket list, tropical islands that you simply won’t want to leave! Activities include sea kayaking, snorkelling and forest treks, or simply relaxing at your hotel or on the beach.

At Lake Manyara, we stay at a beautiful wildlife camp overlooking the lake, either in self-contained stone cottages or tented lodges. We stay in a lodge with self-contained chalets near to the Ngorongoro conservation area. Our next camp is located on the floodplain of Lake Victoria, ideally situated for canoe rides through the Lake Victoria marshland. In Zanzibar, you will stay in a boutique beach hotel, with en suite facilities, swimming pool, spa and restaurant.
