Snowshoe, ski and sledge your way around a winter wonderland of snowy lakes and forests. Wrap up warm to ride a sled pulled by speedy huskies through the frozen landscape, and feel the icy wind on your cheeks as you go.
On this itinerary, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn essential winter survival skills, such as making a fire, ice fishing and even how to build your own igloo. After each day’s adventure, you can spend the evening relaxing in the Finnish sauna, and with some luck you’ll see the Northern Lights as well!
Day1: Fly to Kuusamo
Fly via Helsinki to Kuusamo and transfer to a nearby hotel.
Day2: Husky sledding & igloo building
Put on your snowsuits for a morning visit to a husky farm, where you can learn about the life and training of the huskies and enjoy a sled tour through the snow white forests and frozen lakes.
After lunch, transfer to Hossa National Park, and this afternoon you can begin building your igloo. The snow will then need to be left to harden overnight.
Day3: Cross country skiing
Learn one of the most popular hobbies in Finland. After a short instruction you will be ready to test your ski skills on a tour through the pine forests and over the lakes. This afternoon, there will be time to finish building your igloo.
Days4-5: Overnight snowshoeing adventure
Follow your guide along a trail deep into the forest. Stop for a picnic lunch around the fire and spend the night in a wilderness cabin before continuing across ridges and lakes the following morning.
Day6: Reindeer Farm & wilderness skills
Visit a reindeer farm for a short sledge ride pulled by a reindeer, as well as the chance to learn about the life of a reindeer herder and try your hand at lassoing. This afternoon, don’t miss the chance to learn about essential winter survival skills and ice-fishing.
Day7: Free day for optional activities
Equipment is available for you to do some more skiing, sledging or snowshoeing along the many trails in the area.
Day8: Transfer to Kuusamo Airport & fly to the UK
This morning, there will be a single-timed transfer back to Kuusamo airport for your flight back to the UK.

The first night of the tour is in a hotel in Kuusaamo, thereafter we will stay in log cabins. Bedrooms consist of bunk beds and a sofa bed which can comfortably fit up to four people. Near to the cabins is a lake, sauna and a visitor centre where meals are served. Sledges and kick-sleds, as well as outdoor games, are available at the accommodation. During the overnight snowshoe expedition we stay in a lakeside wilderness cabin in bedrooms with bunkbeds.
