Begin your holiday in Quito, a modern city with traditional culture, nestled in the Andes. After exploring the city and visiting the Equator, travel to the Galapagos where you will board your ship for a four night cruise, visiting six of the Northern islands on this volcanic archipelago.
Young wildlife enthusiasts will learn about biodiversity and encounter a variety of animal, bird and marine life as you explore the impressive coastline, beaches and lagoons of this unique region.
Amazon Extension 5 days/ 4 nights
Extend your stay with a few nights in the Amazon rainforest. Fly to the Amazon basin and transfer by canoe to your lakeside lodge. Spend time wildlife watching from observation decks, and exploring the forest, swamps and river on foot and by canoe.
Day1: Depart UK
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Quito.
Day2: Arrive Quito
On arrival in Quito, transfer to your hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure.
Day3: Quito city tour
Visit the highlights of Quito on a guided walking tour of the city. Later visit the Equatorial Monument where it is possible to stand with one foot in each hemisphere.
Day4: Fly to the Galapagos Island & start cruise
Fly to the Galapagos where you will board your cruise vesssel. This afternoon see a variety of wading birds on Santa Cruz island.
Day5: Santiago Island
Explore the impressive cliffs of the Buccaneer Cove. Snorkel on the rocky shoreline of island before going for a hike inland.
Day6: Rabida Island & Bartolome Island
Take a panga ride or visit the pink beach of Rabida Island. Inland you will encounter a colony of sealions. Go snorkelling to spot unique species and submarine landscapes.
Day7: Genovesa Island
Climb the Prince Philip steps for spectacular views over the archipelago, and then enjoy a stoll along Darwin Bay to observe hundreds of birds.
Day8: Visit Giant Tortoise Breeding Programme (optional); return to Quito
Today there is an optional visit to the giant tortoise breeding programme before fly back to Quito for your last evening.
Day9: Fly back to the UK
Depart Quito at any time for your flight back to the UK.
Alternatively, you may wish to extend your stay with a few nights in the Amazon rainforest.
