After spending some time in the colourful city of Havana, visit caves in Vinales National Park, follow rainforest trails and experience the thrill of zooming through the treetops on a zip-wire. This itinerary also includes an authentic experience of staying in a casa particular – the Cuban equivalent of a bed and breakfast.

Go on the Revolutionary Trail and learn how history has shaped Cuban culture, before ending your family holiday in Cuba with a few days relaxing on the sandy beaches of Varadero.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Fly to Havana

    Fly to Havana on a daytime flight. Meet at the group hotel which is centrally located in Havana, one of the largest and most vibrant cities in the Caribbean.

  2. Day 2: 1950s American car tour & salsa lesson

    Take a walking tour visiting the historic centre of Havana. In the afternoon enjoy a tour of ‘New’ Havana in classic 1950s American cars, followed by a salsa lesson.

  3. Day 3: Vinales National Park walks, caves & cycle tour

    Drive to the lush Valle de Vinales, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This picturesque valley is popular for hiking, exploring caves or simply relaxing. In the afternoon enjoy a gentle cycle around the surrounding areas.

  4. Day 4: Canopy tour; visit Las Terrazas

    Visit Las Terrazas for a canopy tour and zip-line through the trees above the tropical forest lake. Visit a local community and learn about their life in the jungle, then have the opportunity to swim in the San Juan River.

  5. Day 5: Cienfuegos city tour

    Drive to Cienfuegos, stopping at Aldea Taino en route. City tour on arrival.

  6. Day 6: Trinidad: stay in a traditional casa

    Drive to Trinidad, a well-preserved colonial Spanish settlement, for a city tour and the fantastic authentic experience of staying in a traditional Cuban casa particular, where you can live like a local and talk to the family about their day-to-day life.

  7. Day 7: Visit Che Guevara Mausoleum; transfer to Varadero beach

    Visit Che Guevara Mausoleum in Santa Clara before driving on to the white sandy beaches of Varadero.

  8. Days 8-9 : Varadero: free time on the beach; optional activities

    These two days are left free for you to relax and enjoy the stunning beach and the hotel’s many facilities.

  9. Day 10: Drive to Havana

    Enjoy your last morning at the beach before your afternoon drive back to Havana.

  10. Day 11: Transfer to Havana Airport & fly back to the UK

  11. Day 12: Arrive UK

    You will be staying in a comfortable mix of lodges and hotels. All hotels have private facilities and are on a twin share basis - most of them are air conditioned. Many have swimming pools. For one night of the trip, you will stay in a casa - a private homestay, similar to a Bed & Breakfast in the UK. You should note that casa’s may not be suitable for clients with limited mobility; please speak to your consultant if you have any concerns.
