Your holiday begins in Malacca, once one of Asia’s greatest spice trading ports, where families can visit the historical sites and learn about rural village life. In contrast, you can then explore the nearby smart city of Putrajaya, built less than 20 years ago.
See the famous skyline of Kuala Lumpur, as well as the fireflies in a nearby wetland reserve, before venturing into some of the world’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforest. Admire the green, mountainous landscape of the Cameron highlands before ending your tour in Penang, the pearl of the orient.
Day1: Depart UK
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur.
Day2: Arrive Kuala Lumpur, transfer to Malacca
On arrival in Kuala Lumpur, there will be a group transfer to Malacca and then the rest of the day is at leisure to rest or explore this historical colonial town, once the spice trade capital of the world.
Day3: Visit Malay Village
Learn about life in a traditional Malay Village and meet the locals. In the afternoon, return to Malacca to see the city’s historic sights and join an evening river cruise.
Day4: To Kuala Lumpur
Depart for Kuala Lumpur, visiting the smart garden city of Putrajaya on the way. This picturesque town is famed for its innovative and distinctive design, with buildings buildings inspired by Malay, Moorish, Persian, Islamic-moghul and European architecture.
This evening there will be a cultural show and dinner.
Day5: Kuala Lumpur
Enjoy a walking tour of Kuala Lumpur. Visit a batik class and create your very own batik painting, and in the evening, travel into a wetland reserve for a boat cruise and a glimpse of the fireflies who live in the mangrove forests.
Day6: At leisure in Kuala Lumpur
Today is kept free for you to further explore Kuala Lumpur. Optional visits to a nearby water park or the Petronas Towers can be arranged, or you may wish to simply spend the day relaxing by the pool.
Day7: Taman Negara
Visit the Batu Caves, a limestone hill, filled with caves and cave temples, before continuing through the countryside to Taman Negara. In there evening there will be a jungle walk to look for nocturnal wildlife.
Day8: Canopy walkway at Taman Negara
Walk in the canopy high above the rainforest floor. This afternoon, take a boat cruise through the jungle, ride the rapids and enjoy a cascading waterfall.
Day9: Cameron Highlands
Depart Taman Negara on a scenic drive past undulating valleys and mountains to the Cameron Highlands. The difference in climate is noticeable, as you enjoy the cool mountain air, and the vast green scenery of sprawling tea plantations and flower gardens.
Day10: To Penang
This morning visit a hillside market and learn about the produce grown in the Cameron Highlands. A visit to a nearby tea plantation will give families an insight into tea making in the highlands.
Drive to Kek Lok Toong Cave Temple and the royal museum of Kuala Kangsar, before continuing to the island of Penang.
Day11: Explore Penang
Ride aboard the funicular to the summit of Penang Hill, walk beneath the trees of the ancient forest and climb a treetop viewing platform for 360° views of the island. Explore George Town and take a tour of the street art by trishaw.
Day12: Free day in Penang
Today is kept free for you to relax at the beach or further explore Penang.
Day13: Fly back to the UK
Depart from Penang and return to the UK on an overnight flight.
Day14: Arrive UK
