Day 1/2 - Overnight flight to Beijing.

Day 3 - Visit Great Wall & Summer Palace.

Day 4 - Beijing city tour. Train to Xian.

Day 5 - Bike ride & calligraphy writing.

Day 6 - Visit the Terracotta Warriors.

Day 7 - Fly to Chengdu, visit Giant Buddha

Day 8 - Visit panda breeding centre

Days 9-11 - To Yangshuo. Bamboo rafting, cooking class, bike ride & climbing.

Day 12 - Fly to Shanghai, explore the city.

Day 13/14 - Overnight flight to UK.

Day 1. Overnight flight to Beijing
Depart from London on an overnight flight.
Day 2. Arrive Beijing, rest of day free
Arrive at Beijing International Airport, where you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore your surroundings.
Day 3. Watch the sunrise at the Great Wall
Depart from your hotel to visit the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, which is slightly less crowded than other sections. Then return to Beijing and in the afternoon visit the Summer Palace.
Day 4. Explore the city, overnight train to Xian
Explore the rest of the sights of this exciting city, including symbol hunting in the Forbidden City, and head by rickshaw into Beijing's hutongs: famous alleyways found only in Beijing. Then travel to the train station for a night train in a soft sleeper cabin to Xian.
Day 5. Xian - bicycle ride and calligraphy writing
After time to settle in to your hotel in Xian, take a bike tour along the city walls and see the impressive Xian ramparts built during the Ming Dynasty. Then take part in a calligraphy course and in the evening enjoy a Tang Dynasty show and a delicious dumpling dinner.
Day 6. Visit the Terracotta Warriors
In the morning drive to the famous Terracotta Warriors. Make your own terracotta souvenir statuette.
Day 7. Fly to Chengdu, visit Giant Buddha Statue
Transfer to the airport and fly to Chengdu. Drive to Leshan to see the largest Buddha statue in the world, carved into the side of a cliff more than 1200 years ago. Then take a pleasent forest track through the Oriental Buddha Park, dotted with some small temples, thousands of statues and gargantuan artwork.
Day 8. Chengdu, Visit the panda breeding centre
Today you will visit the panda breeding centre and watch these beautiful giants.
Days 9-11. Yangshuo - bicycle ride, cookery class, rafting, rock climbing
Your base for the next 3 nights is the peaceful and green region of Yangshuo. Here you can enjoy a bamboo raft cruise on the Li River, a cookery class, including a visit to a local market and an afternoon cycle trip. You'll also have the opportunity to try rock climbing in one of the most scenic spots imaginable.
Day 12. Fly to Shanghai, explore the city
Leave the lush calm countryside and fly to the metropolis of Shanghai. Then ride the electro-magnetic train to Pudong and admire the city from the highest panoramic terrace in world: the never-ending Shanghai World Financial Centre. Then take the famous Bund Sightseeing Tunnel to cross the Huangpu River to Puxi.
Day 13/14. Overnight flight to UK
This morning you will be transferred to Shanghai airport. If your flight doesn't leave until later in the day, we recommend an optionl excursion which takes you to explore the French Concession by sidecar including a walk through Fuxing Park and visit to museums.
