Tunisia boasts bustling markets, the nearby ruins of Hannibal's Carthage and the delightful seaside village of Sidi Bou Said. From the Gladiator coliseum at El Djem, we cross the mountains to the Sahara Desert, visiting film locations featured in Star Wars.
Explore the palm-lined oasis of Tozeur, traverse the immense salt flats of Chott el Djerid, go camel trekking and see the 'troglodyte' houses in Matmata. Sleep one night in a fixed desert camp, and spend two days relaxing by the sea at Djerba.

- Explore the immense Roman coliseum at El Djem; drive to Tozeur.

- There's quite a bit of travelling, but the itinerary is packed with interest and there are only two long driving days. Because of this it is more suited to children over seven. Accommodation is in comfortable hotels with pools plus one night in a fixed desert camp. To reduce driving time, we take a short flight from Djerba to Tunis and then onto London.
