Suggested itinerary - Gorillas & Chimps

13 days

You can...

  • Track gorillas on foot through a forest
  • Visit the Chimpanzee sanctuary on Ngamba Island
  • View the splendours of Lake Victoria
  • Experience game drives and boat cruises
  • See tree-climbing lions!

Seeing gorillas is one of the greatest and most humbling experiences in the wildlife world; gentle but very powerful. Not only will you have the opportunity of seeing gorillas in the wild but also chimpanzees and golden monkeys.

Besides these famous Ugandan inhabitants you will also have more conventional game viewing to see lions (these ones climb trees!), zebra, elephants, hippo and a multitude of wildlife. There is no doubt that seeing a gorilla face to face in the wild is an exhilarating experience. However, tracking gorillas needs patience and a level of fitness to cope with the steep slopes and uneven terrain. Although younger children can accompany the trip they will not be able to participate with the gorilla or chimpanzee treks. Alternative activities can be provided.
