Ecuador is a land of startling contrasts, from the colourful Otavalo market and the lush green jungles of the Amazon to the inspiration for Darwin's theory, the exotic and beautiful Galapagos Islands. This suggested itinerary has you enjoying as much of Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands as possible in 11 days. From exploring Quito's historical buildings, to standing on the rim of an extinct volcano along with spending a day surrounded by beautiful birds, butterflies and orchids in the cloudforest, Ecuador and the Galapagos has great potential for an unforgettable family adventure.
- Day 1 Fly to Quito
- Depart UK for Ecuador. Upon arrival transfer to your centrally located hotel for three nights (B).
- Day 2 Explore Quito
- Explore Quito's historical buildings and attractions before heading to the Equatorial Monument, where you can stand with a foot in each hemisphere (B).
- Day 3 Volcanoes and Cloud Forest
- Stand on the rim of the crater of an extinct volcano before heading to the Mindo Cloud Forest and walk through epiphyte-laden cloud forest. This is a day of birds, butterflies and orchids (BL).
- Days 4-7 Galapagos Island Cruise
- Fly to the Galapagos Islands and board the MV Santa Cruise for a four-night cruise. Visit San Cristobal, Espanola, Floreana, Fernandina, Isabela, Santa Cruz and Baltra islands. Visit Charles Darwin's Research Centre, see sea lions, giant tortosies, iguanas and hundreds of birds. Minimum age for children on board is 6 years old. (BLD)
- Day 8 Finch Bay
- Travel to the Finch Bay Eco Hotel for a 2 night stay (B). Optional activities and excursions are available during your stay.
- Day 9 Free day
- Free day to explore the islands or enjoy the hotel with its many activities or just relax by the pool or on the beach watching the pelicans play (B).
- Day 10 Fly home
- Fly to Guayaquil and connect to your international flight (B).
- Day 11 Arrive UK.
