Oman, one of the oldest civilisations on the Arabian Peninsula, is an exciting destination with a great climate and beautiful beaches.

This activity holiday in Oman has so much to offer families, with beautiful mountain scenery, sweeping wadis, vast deserts and historic forts. Go dolphin watching and snorkelling, swim to hidden caves and look for turtles at Sur Beach (seasonal). Try sand boarding in the desert before making a splash in the waterpools of Wadi Bani Khalid. You?ll also walk part of the Balcony Walk at Jebel Shams. Finally, take a leisurely walk through the colourful Wadi Shaab.

Day 1 - Overnight flight to Muscat.

Day 2 - Go dolphin watching. Free time.

Day 3 - Explore Jebel Akhdar.

Day 4 - Jebel Shams - 4WD & walks.

Day 5 - Nizwa Fort & Wahiba Sands.

Day 6 - Wadi Bani Khalid & Sur Beach.

Day 7 - Explore Wadi Shab.

Day 8 - Return flight home.

Day 1. Overnight flight to Muscat
Depart from the UK on an overnight flight to Muscat, Oman.
Day 2. Dolphin watching, optional city tour
Meet at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Muscat. The rest of the day is free to relax or you can take an optional city and souk tour to explore Muscat.
Day 3-4. Explore Jebel Akhdal and Jebel Shams - Oman's Grand Canyon
Set off along the coast and then inland towards Oman's 'green mountain', Jebal Akhdar. Walk through the rose and fruit plantations, visit the abandoned village of Wadi Bani Habib and enjoy a picnic lunch at Diana's View overlooking the terraced farming villages, which you'll visit in the afternoon before travelling back down to your hotel in Nizwa. Take the balcony trail along the mountain edge to another abandoned village and on to a small lake. Enjoy breaktaking views of the canyon and set off in 4WD vehicles down the mountain, stopping to meet the people of Nakhr village and see goat hair carpets being woven and dyed, and return to Nizwa.
Day 5. Nizwa Fort and Wahiba Sharqiyah
Explore Nizwa, the former capital of Oman and long regarded as the cultural capital and heart of Oman. Visit the immense 17th century fort, the nearby atmospheric souks and the rest of the city and surrounding areas before setting off for the rolling red dunes of the Wahiba Sands. Climb a dune to watch the sunset and enjoy a night of traditional Bedouin hospitality in a Bedouin tent.
Day 6. Wadi Bani Khalid, Sur and turtle beach
Have the option to try sand boarding or an optional horse safari in the camp area before transferring to Wadi Bani Khalid where you can take a dip in the waterpools of the Wadi. Then head off to the fishing town of Sur to explore a working dhow yard and have lunch, before your transfer to the hotel. Relax for the rest of the day and after dinner watch turtles laying their eggs on the beach.
Day 7. Explore Wadi Shab
Head north up the coast stopping at Wadi Shab for a walk through the palm-lined wadi with dramatic rock formations and swimming pools. Take a swim and discover the hidden cave on the beach near Jebel Shams. Then drive back to Muscat, where there is an option to take a sunset dhow cruise.
Day 8. Fly to UK.
Depart your hotel in Muscat to take your flight back to the UK.
Extend your stay
Fly to Khasab, visit the fort and cave painting at Qadah. Enjoy a dhow cruise through the 'Fjords of Musandum'. Please contact us for prices and more information.
