We visit two islands to give the best opportunity to discover the unique Azores Archipelago, from the volcanoes, caves, pretty towns, beautiful walks and the excitement of whale and dolphin watching. Sperm and Pilot wales pass by the islands in May and you'll see the playful dolphins throughout the spring and summer months. Fun, interactive and informal presentations on whales and dolphins will help you to identify these beautiful mammals while out on the water. Boat trips are 3 hours long and all safety equipment is provided.
- Day 1. Fly to the Azores
- Fly to Horta, Faial Island.
- Day 2. Visit the old town
- Visit the old town; PM optional visit to the buried village
- Day 3. Caldaria Tour
- Walk to the caldaria (volanic crater) with views across to Pico island.
- Day 4. Pico Island
- Ferry to Pico Island, explore the caves and lava tunnels and visit the Sperm Whale Museum.
- Day 5. Whale and Dolphin Watching
- Whale and dolphin watching by boat; free afternoon to explore the town.
- Day 6. Whale and Dolphin Watching
- Whale and dolphin watching by boat, free time for snorkelling in the lagoon.
- Day 7. Free day
- Optional activites including cultural tour of the island or jeep excursion.
