Myanmar is a beautiful and culturally rich country and with its gates recently opened up to tourism, now is the time to visit this fast-emerging destination. Travel back in time and experience Myanmar's ancient treasures, golden temples, bustling markets and meet the inviting locals. Along the way, you can enjoy magnificent landscapes untouched by mass tourism as you travel on foot, by bike and on a traditional horse and cart.

Day 1/2 - Fly to Yangon.

Day 3 - Visit the pottery making village.

Day 4 - Fly to Bagan & explore temples.

Day 5 - Climb Mount Popa.

Day 6 - Cycle tour of Bagan's temples.

Day 7 - Fly to Heho & drive to Inle Lake.

Day 8 - Boat trip to Indein Pagoda.

Day 9 - Fly to Yangon. Shwedagon Pagoda.

Day 10/11 - Overnight flight to return home.

Day 1. Fly from the UK to Yangon
Overnight flight from the UK to Yangon via Bangkok.
Day 2. Arrive Yangon
Your English-speaking guide will welcome you and you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure exploring or relaxing. Enjoy a Burmese meal at a welcome dinner for your group.
Day 3. Explore Yangon (Rangoon)
Explore Yangon's colonial buildings and parks and then head out to Twante, a pottery village known for producing some of Myanmar's best terracotta works. Have a go at producing your own clay souvenir.
Day 4. Fly to Bagan and explore temples
Upon arrival in Bagan, start your temple tour with a horse and cart ride around Nyaung U market, the largest market in the region. Explore cottage industries and a selection of temples such as the gilded Shwezigon Stupa, Kyansitha - a cave temple - and Ananda temple with its four standing Buddhas. Enjoy a sunset cruise along the Ayerwaddy River.
Day 5. Mount Popa
Drive to Mount Popa where you will have the opportunity to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the peak. In the afternoon we visit a family run toddy shop where you can obvserve the process of making caramel candies from the sap of toddy palms.
Day 6. Cycle tour of Bagan's temples
Cycle into the ancient Kingdom of Bagan, first stopping at Myingaba village to learn how Bagan's famous lacquerware crafts are produced. Continue to Myingaba Gubyaukgi Temple which houses Bagan's best preserved mural paintings, enjoy panoramic views of Bagan from Dhamayazeka Zedi and proceed to Shwesandaw Pagoda to watch the sunset over the Ayerwaddy River.
Day 7. Fly to Heho and drive to Inle Lake
Visit the main market in Heho and on the way to Inle Lake, stop and learn how Shan umbrellas are made. Descend through the beautiful hills of Shan State to Inle Lake and visit Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, home to some of the country's most sacred Buddha statues covered in gold leaf.
Day 8. Boat trip to Indein Pagoda
Head off by boat down a small river and then walk through bamboo groves to the Indein Pagoda complex, a field covered with ancient pagodas built over 1,000 years ago. Stop off at a conservation centre for Burmese felines.
Day 9. Fly to Yangon and explore the city
Explore Yangon starting with Lawka Chanthar - the world's biggest marble Buddha. Visit Bogyoke Market, continue round the quaint Yangon Old Quarter, visit a local pharmacy to learn about Myanmar traditional medicine and wrap up the day at the spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda followed by a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 10. Depart for the UK
Enjoy the morning at your leisure until your transfer to Yangon International Airport for your flight back to the UK.
Day 11. Arrive UK
