This is a great family-friendly holiday for cultural enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. Travel from the soaring skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur into the mountainous, dense jungle of the highlands and on to the beach of Penang. This is an exciting cultural journey across a breathtaking country. Spend time exploring temples such as Cheng Hoon Teng in Malacca and the Batu Cave shrines. Watch fireflies fill the night sky while eating dinner on a boat in Kuala Selangor Wetland Reserve and go wildlife spotting on a night trek in Taman Negara rainforest - look out for tapirs and wild boars. Then, walk through the jungle treetops on the world's longest canopy walkway.

Day 1/2 - Overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur. Travel to hotel in Malacca.

Day 6 - To Taman Negara via Batu Caves.

Day 9 - Visit tea plantations and see butterflies & cacti.

Day 10 - Travel to Penang via caves & spice gardens.

Day 11 - Free day to explore Penang.

Day 12/13 - Return flight home.

Day 1/2. Overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur. You will be met on arrival and transferred to Malacca where you will check into your hotel.
Day 3. Explore Malacca
Relive history as you explore Cheng Hoon Temple, Malacca Museum, St Paul's Church and the mighty fortress of Porta de Santiago. Relax on a cruise along the Malacca River which flows through the middle of the city.
Day 4. Drive to Kuala Lumpur via Putrajaya
Visit the "Garden City" of Putrajaya, where almost half of the city is reserved for green spaces, and marvel at the impressive architecture, from the traditional Arabic style of Putra Mosque to the innovative and modern Millenium Monument. Continue on to Kuala Lumpur and enjoy an evening cultural show and dinner.
Day 5. Morning free, afternoon firefly tour
Enjoy a morning at your leisure and then leave for Kuala Selangor Wetland Reserve for a firefly tour. The mangrove forests are home to fireflies which emit light at night. As the sun sets, head off on a magical cruise to watch the flashing fireflies over dinner on the boat, before returning to your hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Day 6. Drive to Taman Negara via caves
Visit the Batu caves in Selangor, a limestone hill with many caves and cave temples. Marvel at the giant statue of the Hindu God at the entrance before climbing the 272 steps to the shrine for stunning panoramic views of the city's skyline. Then continue to your resort in Taman Negara and in the evening go on a night jungle walk - spot tapir, wild boar and more in the world's oldest tropical rainforest.
Day 7. Jungle trek and boat trip
Walk through the jungle treetops on the world's longest canopy walkway, measuring 1.2 km, and enjoy stunning views of the rainforest. Then take a gentle boat cruise along the Tembeling River into the heart of Taman Negara, looking out for water buffalo, monkeys and a variety of birdlife.
Day 8. To the Cameron Highlands
Transfer by road to a comfortable resort, ideally located in the Cameron Highlands amidst a 7-acre hill between Brinchay and Tanah Rata. The Cameron Highlands is one of Malaysia's most extensive hill stations, and here you'll enjoy cooler temperatures.
Day 9. Tea plantations, butterflies and cacti
Cameron Highlands is the largest tea-growing region in Malaysia and also the centre of strawberry production in Malaysia so you'll go to a tea plantation to learn about growing and processing tea and enjoy breath-taking views over the plantation. Then visit a butterfly farm where you'll see around 40 species of live butterfly and other live insects, then a strawberry farm - this fruit is an iconic part of the landscape comprising the Cameron Highlands. Visit Cactus Valley, a botanical show garden and see the many different extraordinary varieties of cacti and then go to a fruit & vegetable market.
Day 10. To Penang via Ipoh Caves
Descend to Penang, stopping along the way at the Ipoh Caves, an amazing network of caves displaying Buddha artwork. Continue your journey to your hotel in Penang.
Day 11. Free day at leisure
Today is free at your leisure - relax in your hotel or explore your surroundings.
Day 12/13. Overnight flight to UK
Depart from Penang and return to the UK on an overnight flight.
