Holidaying with the ‘Framily

Noun. framily (plural framilies) (slang): The favourite people in our lives we would include in our family, whether they are blood-related or not, typically because we love them.

We are all aware that 21st century families are busy people scattered around different parts of the UK or perhaps the globe. Even if we reside in the same towns and cities as our parents and grandparents, catching time to see them to enjoy the good things in life can be a perpetual challenge.

Taking a private group holiday can be the solution to this problem, as well as offering a fistful of other benefits. Grandparents are like gold dust to a growing young family. More often than not they are only too happy to help out with the many pitfalls parenting throws at us. Why not include them in your next family holiday plans? They help relieve the parenting pressure, sharing babysitting duties, providing much needed assistance and defusing potential time-bomb situations to enable everyone to have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Bonds between the generations will inevitably grow stronger with shared holiday experiences to talk about for many years to come. You never know – they may even foot the bill too if you are very lucky!

When it comes to cost though, don’t assume that taking a private group departure will be more pricy than a standard group departure. This isn’t necessarily the case. Quite often, for example, if you are prepared to travel midweek as opposed to taking a weekend flight, then costs could come down quite considerably.

We can’t choose our family but we can certainly choose our friends! If travelling with extended members of your family doesn’t strike a chord for whatever reason, then perhaps you would rather spend some time away with friends. Your children may well already be best buddies with children of your family friends, bringing automatic holiday playmates into the equation.

Group adventures with people you know gives the added advantage of having company to participate in different activities which some of your family may choose to opt out of. For example, some of your group may like to try climbing and abseiling in Gozo, while others would prefer to explore the island or relax on the beach. It is always good for us to have a little bit of our own space on holiday too.

We would love to know if you have any particular celebrations you would like to mark with a private group holiday. We would be happy to suggest the most appropriate destination and arrange all the details, saving you time and any unnecessary worry.

Of course, you don’t necessarily need to book a private group trip. You could take spaces on one of our standard group departures for your group by blocking out the number of spaces required.

Whoever makes up your framily we look forward to helping you find the right holiday choice for all your needs.
